Support will continue. They are already apparently working on a software update that disables or changes the blood oxygen sensor somehow that will let them continue to sell the new models. I'm sure this will be resolved in a matter of days or weeks. It's kind of funny, since the blood oxygen sensor doesn't even really work that well and is a feature that probably used by roughly 1% of Apple Watch users. They could probably just turn it off with an update and no one would even notice.

I don’t have a lot to add besides piling on the total shit show that is discord. I don’t really use it much, but there are a few communities for games I play where it is the only source of information… and woof, the UI feels like it was designed by a million monkeys with a million typewriters. It’s so bad I’m not even sure where to begin to criticize it… but as a super casual user without a lot of experience with it, I find everything about to be completely unintuitive, baffling and user hostile.

American Slaughterhouses using migrant child labor
ort replied to SuperSpreader's topic in The Political Re-Education Camp
I’ve always believed that if republicans really wanted to get rid of illegal immigrants all they would have to do is come down super duper hard on the American businesses who employ them. Pass a bunch of laws that excessively punish any business found with undocumented workers… But of course they will never do that, because the hard truth no one wants to admit is that our economy (and those businesses) are dependent on these laborers. It's also funny that the vast majority of the very industries that depend on immigrant labor are the same ones that give so much support to the party that is constantly calling on measures that would actually harm their bottom line. Republicans don’t actually want to fix the problem, because then they would lose one of their main methods of keeping their audience outraged and angry. -
Movies Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F | Coming Summer 2024 to NETFLIX

At first I thought that was a different actor or a CGI face swap or something... but that's just what he looks like? He's 62? How much adrenochrome is Eddie Murphy mainlining? -
TIME's person of the year is...
ort replied to CitizenVectron's topic in The Political Re-Education Camp
The hateful bullshit the right wing media machine peddles works much better when it's directed at a specific "other" or nemesis they can identify. The entire playbook is DIVIDE, ANGER AND CONFUSE. They don't really even need to win, they just need to keep everyone angry and frustrated. Turning Taylor Swift into a villain really checks off a lot of boxes for them, so I can see why they would find it appealing. Anything to keep their army of brainwashed fear-filled simpletons enraged and 100% focused on completely unimportant nonsense while they quietly maintain the same power structures that keep them down in the first place. -
Movies A24 - Civil War Trailer - 2024

Seems like this would be a lot to try to cram into one movie, but it looks, uh... interesting...? -

I’m pretty sure Fox News is actively trying to start a giant culture war feud with her. -

Television Letterkenny: Season 12 (The Final Season)
ort replied to silentbob's topic in The Performing Arts Centre
I've started watching Shoresy, which is far from perfect, but good mindless dumb nonsense. I like it more than Letterkenny, mostly because we're big into hockey in my house. It's almost comical how much of a total ripoff of the classic 70s hockey movie Slapshot it is though... they don't even really try to hide it. It has to be on purpose... it sure as hell wasn't a total accident. -
I saw a post somewhere that he made more money making Cameos in one week than he was paid in his entire time in congress. It might be funny, but let's not send this miserable sack of shit any more cash. George Santos is earning six figures from Cameo videos WWW.SEMAFOR.COM “Sarah Jessica Parker, Bon Jovi — he’s putting numbers up like that,” says the company’s CEO. At any rate, this is surely very front loaded and a few months from now the world will have moved on and no one will care.

The badge system makes me wish for my longtime dream of a side scrolling Metroidvania Mario game. How cool would it be to have a Mario game with a giant connected map and permanent unlockable power-ups... you know... a Metroidvania, but Mario. I've wanted one for decades now and I'm surprised Nintendo has never tried to pull it off. Feels like a no brainer.

I find the badge system to be kind of weird. Seems like there are a few that are just so much better than the rest... while simultaneously... all of them feel pretty useless because every level has to be reasonably beatable without a player using them. Overall this game gets two big thumbs up from me. I'm slowly working my way through it. I love the goofy "Wonder Flower" portions of levels and the overall level design feels fresh and unique and not repetitive. Controls feel tight and not floaty. Some of the previous years 2D Mario games had controls I just found weird. My main issue with the game is that I find the overworld to be confusing and pointless. I feel like I'm always lost and confused and feel like I'm probably missing out on secret levels here and there. It's also goofy we're always earning all these seeds and purple coins and whatnot, but at no point in the entire game so far have I ever once reached a locked level on the map that I was not able to just instantly open and just go into. It makes all of the stuff we are collecting feel completely valueless. And, while overall I like this flower world or whatever, all of the levels feel kinda similar. Mario games do a good job of taking you from world to world and throwing a bunch of similarly themed levels at you... lava world, ice world, jungle world, desert world... etc... Mario Wonder all pretty much feels exactly the same to me. Oh, and I love the talking flowers. If someone had told me that the new Mario game featured overly cheerful witty flowers that talk to you and crack little jokes I would have rolled my eyes and assumed they were just terrible... but no, they never fail to amuse me. They add a lot of character and flair and fun to the game.

Movies Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga - Official Trailer #2
ort replied to Firewithin's topic in The Performing Arts Centre
All 4 Mad Max movies kinda feel like they take place in completely different versions of the apocalypse. I was never as in love with Fury Road as most. I really liked a lot of things about it... but it didn't feel like a Mad Max movie. I loved the action sequences and overall aesthetic and pace... but found the plot and pretty much everything else to be severly lacking. This trailer really doesn't do much of anything for me. Feels like it's leaning harder into the aspects of Fury Road I didn't enjoy. Looks too over the top and goofy. The portrayal of the apocalyptic world doesn't really make much sense in any of the films. but it made even less sense in Fury Road. It felt like a cartoon. My favorite in the series is still Road Warrior. -

People online are claiming it's because he was pretty pro-palastine and wasn't toeing the company line like he should... I don't know if that's true or not. -

I wish there was a way to get the cheap version of these services with ads, but then pay some nominal fee to watch something without ads. Like, give me ads most of the time, but give me the option to pay an extra 50 cents to watch a movie with no ads. -
Nikki Haley planning Feb. 15 launch for 2024 White House bid
ort replied to Jason's topic in The Political Re-Education Camp
Regardless of how much they like to pretend it won't happen, there is a big chance Trump's legal troubles will get much worse. People are barely even paying attention at this point, once the campaign goes into the final stretch, I think all of the legal hit pieces will start coming hard and heavy and it's hard to see him winning over a bunch of new people. I still think he will be the candidate, but being the backup choice probably isn't a bad position to be in. Also, I really do honestly think that if it was Nikki Haley vs. Joe Biden, and the election was tomorrow... Joe Biden would lose. I honestly can't see Trump ever winning again. All of the people bank rolling the Republican Party aren't dumb and surely at some point that reality is going to sink in. -

My biggest pet peeve is when streaming services have commercials, but they don't line up with the actual commercial breaks in the show. Which is you know, ALL OF THEM, if I'm not mistaken...
