  1. Certainly the regular enemies didn't require much tactical planning but a lot of the bosses did especially if you were a bit under-leveled. I remember quite a few that required keeping up certain buffs or you'd be cooked. Definitely the super-bosses (Ruby/Emerald Weapon in 7, Ultima & Omega weapon in 8, Ozma in 9, Nemesis & Penance in X, Paragon & Trema in X-2. etc). required a lot of planning 2-3 turns ahead and coming in well equipped. That's honestly my favorite part of RPGs and especially FF games, doing all the sidequests, getting geared out so you can obliterate any enemy but still struggling to beat those superbosses.
  2. But it will be button masher for those people because they're going to have to play it in "game journalist mode" and equip the rings that play the game for you.
  3. I love turn based rpgs FF7 is tied for my favorite game ever. Every new FF game after 9 got further and further away from being a traditional turn based game and every time I griped and felt disappointed/betrayed and every single time I was wrong. FF12 has some of my favorite combat of the whole series. 13 was a deeply flawed game but the combat was excellent. FF7R crushed my soul when I found out it wasnt turn-based but they actually did a really great job of making it feel like FF7 once you had a full party to switch between. Moral of the story: I will never doubt Final Fantasy again at least when it comes to combat, the combat is always great and XVI is the first game in decades that feels like it has had a vision and a direction from start to finish and isnt a disjointed amalgamation of half-baked ideas hastily slapped together. It may not end up being my favorite game in the series but I have zero doubt it's going to be one hell of a ride.
  4. Holy shit I am so hyped. On paper this should be my favorite game of all-time, love DMC, love Final Fantasy both top 5 franchises for me.
  5. This is why I've never really liked GTA games, 2/3rds of the quests are fetching some random thing. It's a monotonous slog. My adhd is also way too strong to sit through a game with 45 minute cutscenes. If you're going to subject me to that it had be one hell of a story and 99% of the time it's just not anywhere near compelling enough to justify that.
  6. Last Week Tonight main story this week is about how shit and evil HOA's are. Just another way for corporations to privatize every aspect of your life and steal your money, fuck em all.
  7. It's $31.99 on greenman (for some reason discount only shows up when you add to cart and go to checkout) This game is really good but it's ugly as hell so much so that it can be hard to tell what's going on at times. The story is also hella-bad but that's not really their fault as this is just a remake of Final Fantasy 1. If you like Nioh or souls-like games set in Final Fantasy universe (Cactuars, Tonberrys, etc) you'll definitely enjoy this.
  8. Dark souls 1 is the least forgiving in terms of bonfires imho. They're spread very far apart in some places and you cant fast travel until the very end. Demons souls has a central hub with "levels" and is probably easiest as long as you understand the world tendency mechanic.
  9. Definitely Sekiro. No way to cheese or over level. Get gud is the only way to beat it.
  10. Dmed you, let me know if you have any issues redeeming it. if you like story focused games I think you'll love it, the DC adds a lot of QoL changes too.
  11. Anyone want a code for Death Stranding Directors cut? It's one of the games on humble bundle this month I just subbed @Brick I see you have it on your steam wishlist, if you want it it's yours if not then it's up for grabs.
  12. You fucking asshole... I had never seen or heard of this game before today I click in here read a couple of posts and now I'm being flooded with mobile game ads and have gotten 2 for this exact game specifically today 😡😡😡 Do you know how much porn I'm going to need to watch to get my algorithm back to recommending "hot singles in your area code" !?!?
  13. If anyone sees the Pro Controller up for pre-order or is able to snag an extra and could @ me I would love you forever thanks. I'm so hyped Zelda, FF16 a month later, and FF7 Rebirth later this year... Oh what a time to be alive.
  14. This is a good thing instead of arbitrarily holding info for some lousy press event companies can just release info on their own timelines and instead of getting shitty off-screen footage we can get direct HD uploads. Most of the big boys were already doing that anyways with Nintendo Directs, Sony State of Play, etc.
  15. I preordered the zelda oled switch from amazon & target I dont think they're going to end up being super limited if anyone has trouble getting one let me know
  16. idk how XB3 looks/runs but 2 was ugly as shit. It used "dynamic" resolution that was pretty much always running at 600p. When it ran at native res it looked very nice but that seemed to be happen very seldomly. BotW was far more tecnically impressive considering: it was a launch title, the draw distance was great, the load times were virtually non-existent and it had a steady resolution. It's not the prettiest game but it runs miles better.
  17. This game is bad. it wants to be Okami but with shitty controls and much less interesting lore. It also feels very hand-holdy like it was designed for a younger audience which is weird because of how drastically different the tone of the other Bayonetta games. It's almost like they just slapped the bayonetta name on it to maybe grab a few people who would otherwise look past this game.
  18. XII didnt really have a "main character" Vaan was the first you were introduced to but it was protagonist by committee once they all came together. In fact I'd say Vaan takes a back seat to everyone else about 1/3rd of the way through.
  19. I honestly feel like this can't be good for your brain, I have a feeling as vr tech gets better people are going to legit get PTSD from this kind of stuff.
  20. I just beat Guardian ape on my 4th (5th?) try so I guess I'm "getting gud" because I've heard that a lot of people really struggled with him. I do have like 8 gourd charges and have beaten most of the mini-bosses I've come across though so I did have a lot of room for error.
  21. I platinum it too, but it overstayed its welcome. It was about 15 hours too long. The last bit was a chore, the different outfit abilities were pretty lackluster, some of the abilities you unlock near the end are way overpowered. It might be one of the better open world games but that's not really saying much they're all pretty mid besides fromsoft, zelda, and a few other exceptions.
  22. This game is kind of mid, very forgettable. It did alot of things well but didnt stand out in any area other than the Lore quests. It's just a bit too predictable and formulaic. A sequel with some refinements could be pretty dope though.
