Bets on the Chiefs win. QUESTIONS 1) What will be the first scoring play of the Feature Game? Texans TD, Texans FG, Texans safety, Chiefs TD, Chiefs FG, Chiefs safety, or other? ($300 for the correct call) David Jonhson carried the ball for a 19 yard scramble and a touchdown to kick off the scoring on Thursday for the first score of the 2020 NFL season. Nobody called a Houston TD. 2) How many field goals (not PATs) will be scored in the Feature Game? ($300 for the correct call) Only 2 drives ended in field goals in this one. thewhyteboar was the only player to guess this correctly. 3) How many penalties will be thrown and accepted in the feature game? ($300 for the correct call) 6 flags were thrown and accepted in what seemed like a pretty disciplined affair considering it was the first game. Slug was the only player to get this one right. 4) Which team will have more turnovers in the Week 1 match-up between the Seahawks and the Falcons? ($200 for the correct call) Atlanta threw and interception and lost one fumble which Seattle managed to stay clean in the turnover battle. Guesses on Atlanta get it. 5) Call the winners: Chicago at Detroit LA Chargers at Cincinnati Tennessee at Denver ($200 for EACH correct named game winner, $600 bonus if you call all 3 correctly) Not a lot of people had confidence in Chicago. As a result, ManUtdRedDevils and Alpha1Cowboy were the only players to call all three games correctly to earn the bonus. 6) How many total points will be scored in the Washington at Philadelphia game? 0-10, 11-24, 25-36, 37-45, or 46-55 or 55+ ($300 for the correct guess) The Football Team came back from a 17 point deficit to beat the Eagles 27-17. 37-45 is the call. 7) Name the player who will score the first touchdown of the Tampa Bay @ New Orleans game (by "score" we mean "the player holding the ball in the end-zone; don't name a QB unless you are guessing a rushing TD by them) ($400 for the correct answer) Tom Brady keeps the ball himself, charging into the endzone from 2 yards out for the first touchdown of this game and his first as a Buc. Shockingly nobody guessed this. 8) Name the player who will rush for the most yards AND the player that will have the most receiving yards in week one. ($1,000 for each player named correctly, $3,000 bonus if both names are called) Clyde Edwards-Helaire led all runners with 138 yards on the ground while Julio Jones topped all receivers with 157 in the air. thewhyteboar nailed the outside Edwards-Helaire call for a nice bump in cash! The 2020-21 NFL Season begins tomorrow and that means the Mock Gambling Thread is back! Will @AbsolutSurgen be able to defend his title? Time to find out. Are you new and don't know what this is? Keep reading. The Mock Gambling Thread is a competition that is a part gambling, part predicting, and part forecasting contest. The competition lasts for the entirety of the NFL season and is open to all regular board members. Each player starts with fictitious $1,000 that you can gamble as much or as little as you like on the week's Feature Game. There are two ways to increase your cash: Bet on the outcome of the Featured Game each week (with the spread). The featured game will be chosen each week from among the nationally televised games with the line set from when I post the thread. There will be a number of questions that will ask you to make predictions or to forecast certain outcomes across the NFL during the week. Correct answers earn you cash. You do not lose cash for wrong answers. The types of questions will vary each week, as will the amount of cash they can earn you. The competition continues through NFL season and post-season. At the conclusion of the Super Bowl the user with the most "cash" left will be the winner. THE RULES 1. You make your bet and answer the questions simply by posting on the thread each week with your pick for the featured game along with your bet, followed by your answers to the prediction questions. 2. Everyone starts with $1,000. If a user doesn't start until week 3, they still start with $1,000. Your best bet it to get in early and play every week. 3. If you somehow reach $0 you are not out of the competition. You can't bet on the feature game during weeks that you are broke, but you can answer the prediction questions and hope to earn cash to gamble the following week. 4. IMPORTANT: I will set a deadline for getting your entries for the week in (usually before kick-off of that week's first game). It is imperative that you make your post before the deadline. In the TTG version I play, there is a minimum number of players you need to start on the line of scrimmage (3). If you can't meet that requirement you must concede the match. I would imagine this rule follows into the video game versions, but honestly I never ran into that scenario in any of the AI matches I played in the last version. It'd be really tough to deplete a team that badly in a single game. Over the course of a season as injuries stack up, maybe though.

I'm a tabletop Blood Bowl player (Chaos Team all day). I tried to get into the video games and it just kind of loses something. I don't know. If I'm not painting minis and rolling dice and drinking beer with my friends while we're kicking each others' asses on the field then why am I playing? This isn't a game made to play against AI and making sure all my friends buy it so I can play them seems....eh.

Root is one of those games that I've heard good things about and have been meaning to get, but for some reason I never do. Time to move it back to the top of my list.
