  2. There is SO MUCH tremendous RPG content out there now that D&D is riding its brand recognition HARD. It's really something that it's still so popular after the OGL fiasco; I hope that some of that falls by the wayside. Not because I want D&D to fail per se, just that there's so much imaginative, niche, accessible, and rad content out there that I wish people paid more attention to. Magic is... I dunno. I hadn't played since the 90's and only got a couple of the Baldur's Gate commander decks when they came out; the irony tree bears bitter fruit. There's just too much I'm not familiar enough with when it comes to MTG to have a truly informed take, but the extent to which decisions are made solely because there's a non trivial amount of capital involved in the value of cards they're deciding to not reprint solely to keep prospectors happy is... gross. Regardless it's clear that MTG is a money printer for them. So many CEOs insist on slaughtering the geese laying their golden eggs because they think the foie gras must be just that rich. It's fucking bananas.
  3. Interview: Epic CEO Tim Sweeney after his Google antitrust win - The Verge WWW.THEVERGE.COM What he learned, why he attended, and what’s next. The absolute fucking gall of this asshole.
  4. Both Switch and Wii U versions of BotW have some framerate issues at certain times. No reason to skip the Wii U version if you wanna play it and there's no Switch for you on the horizon.
  5. If it's happening with just one cart, the cart is probably dirty. Might be able to see it on the metal bits of the cartridge. If it's multiple carts, could either be that there's gunk in the cartridge slot or something in there is bent. If it's gunk in either location (cart or slot) you could look into cleaning the contacts with isopropyl alcohol. If there's something really chunky in the slot, you could try compressed air.
  6. Anyone who says Cool Ranch should be on an @FBI watchlist.
  7. Having the thumbnail be someone aiming down sight with their fingernails painted trans flag colors is… a choice.
  8. Congress has always been filled with goobers, them being performative to such an extent in public to be grist for the grift mill is a relatively recent phenomenon. MTG uses her platform to do the equivalent of whining about being banned by namlas. It’s embarrassing when people posted about it on IGN, she’s doing it in fucking Congress. The issue is that there’s a plurality / majority in one of our major political parties who simply has no interest in actual governance. It’s not sustainable in even the medium term; I really don’t know how this is going to shake out and I don’t think anyone does, either.
  9. My favorite take is when clueless dudes insist that Swift is going after Kelce to increase her profile. My sweet summer children, Kelce is but a barnacle on the USS Swift.
  10. Turns out it’s not just videogames that are fucked, it’s gaming in general: Hasbro's 1,100 layoffs have hit D&D and Magic: The Gathering hard, as a growing list of staff announce their departures | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM The layoffs are happening despite both properties having "record years", as per an investor meeting in October. Tale as old as time…
  11. This is all true. I go back and forth on how much I like her portrayal. She’s powerful and awesome, but her agency often boils down to her sidelining herself for most of the games. It’s much better then when she was a straight up damsel in distress of course so I can’t complain too much.
  12. In your parents’ defense… If you don’t know, this guy’s channel is dedicated to educating people on scammers. He’s worked with law enforcement to get scam centers shut down, etc. He does this for a living. Aaaaaaaaaaand he got scammed into giving up control of his channel before working with google to have it restored. There are certain parts of the population that are more vulnerable to this than others, but if someone whose career is based on taking down scammers can himself be scammed… nobody is really safe from this nonsense.
  13. I think the most accepted answer would be asking a question which is inherently a logical fallacy, or a question that is more interested in provoking a response rather than being genuinely interested in the answer to the question itself. So like, “Why do left wing pundits deny that the Nazis were a left wing, socialist party? They have socialist right there in the name,” is a bad faith question from anyone with a brain because the Nazis were not left wing, they were not socialists, and we know why they called themselves that.
