  1. It depends on where they make changes. For insurance, I'm happy with everything I've read about the changes they've made to Gren. Everything about them in the original series was...troubling, to say the least. They would not have worked as a character in any medium in 2021. 'Cowboy Bebop' actor explains how Gren is reimagined as nonbinary EW.COM Mason Alexander Park explains how Netflix's live-action 'Cowboy Bebop' reimagines Gren as nonbinary. However, I know that Gren's changes have been a point of contention for fans, so...
  2. They're wildly all over the place. Enough so that I'm wondering where the line between "this is fine on its own merits" and "this doesn't satisfy the anime fan in me" lies. For a series like Cowboy Bebop, I can't help but feel a lot of disappointment from reviewers will come up, even if the series is technically fine, if it misses something they loved about the original.
  3. There is a non-zero chance that this kid will walk AND kill someone again in the future.
  4. It does mean nothing to anyone outside of this post of the country, but it's still endemic of what's been happening for decades in all industries. These chucklefucks didn't at all care if they wound up killing the company. They wanted a massive bonus going to them instead of the employees and looked to fire the company's CEO to get someone in there that was willing to make it happen. In their eyes, worse case scenario is they sell the company off and get an additional acquisition bonus.
  5. This. This right here. This is what Nintendo should do. There is no game from them I want more than this one right here. I haven't played Riders Republic, but I have sunk a large amount of time in Ubisoft's other open world racer The Crew 2. F-Zero should be it's own thing. I guess you could change everything to be some sort of futuristic open world racer set in the FZero universe.
  6. The Quest 2 is a stand alone headset, though it can also be used as a PC headset in the event you upgrade your PC to play VR porn games.
  7. So my wife has asperger's. I mention this because she is very often hyper literal about things, so if I say there's nothing on the menu she gives me a slant eyed look because there's plenty on the menu. It's not my fault I'm not really up for the wild vegan place with kale smoothies. I don't mean no games have ever had good stories. Night in the Woods is amazingly personal and made me want to talk to my mom more. The Telltale Walking Dead games were fantastic. I still quote Grim Fandango. The Stanley Parable has one if the best scripts out there. It's just rare and most games that are touted as having great stories are made for Syfy/Lifetime channel nonsense.
  8. Yeah, but the board and shareholders need their massive profits. I looked up the Market Basket thing. What really caused the drama was indeed over cutting board members a $250m check, which the CEO was against. This isn't hard, but the rich ones at the top don't really care since they can line their pockets now and totally use that money for a fifth vacation home.
  9. Don't worry, we'll have a few more violent insurrections first. The day Trump dies of old age with a cheeseburger lodged in his throat is the day Q morons will seriously go ultra violent. It'll happen as soon as his gluttony gets turned into a deep state assassination. Trump will be the next JFK in their mythos. Either way, not everyone is having trouble hiring people. Here's a local story... Market Basket hires for dozens of stores as industry faces staffing crisis WWW.WCVB.COM The New England supermarket chain held job fairs in more than 60 stores Friday as they staff up for the holidays and try to stay ahead of the widespread worker shortage. They hired 30 people in a single day. How? Profit sharing for full time employees, bonuses for part timers, paid leaves for everyone. Does the pay suck? Yeah, but everyone also gets yearly raises, so it's not unusual to see someone that's been working there for a decade. Well, was. A lot of those people retired at the start of the pandemic, so it's mostly been young kids working in those the last few times I did some groceries. There's a reason why a bunch of their stores shut down when a huge chunk of their non-union staff went on strike after the board fired its CEO and was forced to rehire him like a month later. I'm pretty sure the dispute was over stopping the profit sharing with employees and cutting the board a nice fat check instead. I still find it crazy that a comment like that works in this day and age, is profitable, and still manages to sell stuff cheaper than everyone else, even Walmart.
  10. Videogame stories suck. Even the supposed best game videogame stories suck. This Guardians game isn't getting an Oscar for best screenplay or anything like that. Just laugh off that notion. This game, however, would be up there with the better, recent Marvel movies. If you haven't seen anything since Hellboy, yeah, I'd say this is as good Ron Perlman's Hellboy. It's at least as well cast.
  11. @skillzdadirecta Yeah, Avengers is good. I like the combat in this one better than Guardians even if everything else is Guardians is better. That could just be a result of Star-Lord being boring compared to Avengers cast, though.
  12. Some of those shinespark puzzles look like goofiness straight out of the speedrunning community. I saw a few of them and then just said I'm good on upgrades. I don't really need to 100% this game.
  13. Why even be fearful of name dropping KKK there? Let me fix that statement.
  14. That's scarily close to my wife and she's a teacher. She had a ten minute call followed by a fifteen minutes in person. Her old school still has a job opening looking to replace her. She was working at the worst ranked school in the district thinking she'd make a difference...and she was making progress...until the administration kept fucking with her. In the course of a single month working there they changed her students' schedules like ten times. There were a couple of days where she couldn't even find her students and worthy the day looking for them. They also gas lit her. The principal there claimed she never changed anyone's schedule and then when presented with email evidence, doubled down and claimed it never happened. All because my wife bitched to her union rep about how disorganized everything is. Guess your school doesn't rank last in the district for no reason. She was like "fuck that, I'm out", grabbed her stuff and just left, then and there. Some people are playing manager like there are too few jobs for too many people.
  15. I can barely describe how much I despise the quote from the superintendent.
  16. My wife quit her job in October...and then started a new one two weeks later. Crazy what happens when your boss treats you like shit in a market where everyone is looking to hire.
  17. This is very much a new SMT, but it's nice to have a full console release over the handheld ones we've been getting into now. A shame I can't actually play the game since it seems like my Switch is about to die. Sounds like the fan bearings are about to go. That should be a pretty easy swap if I can find the parts online.
  18. I'm not sure I'd say upscaling is what we're talking about here. The video in question looks like it came from a security camera and the procecution wanted to zoom in on a small part of the video on an iPad. No matter what, the end result would be blurry mess. There is no AI rendering of the video going on here in real time the way an iPhone would enhance a picture or video taken on it. Even then, that AI enhancement they do isn't instantaneous. Apple fakes it pretty well, but even on the latest Pixel you can see the moment when a picture goes from raw to enhanced after you've taken it. Google doesn't really hide this for whatever Google reasons you can think of. Just open a random JPG on your phone that you grabbed from Google image search and zoom in as much as you can. There's no AI filtering going on there and it's no different with video.
  19. There's a difference between using software to enhance a zoomed in video and just playing something on your device's video player and just using pinch to zoom on it. Google and Apple's latest phones have the most advanced picture rendering hardware of any consumer device ever released in the history of forever, and neither has the ability to change video in realtime.
  20. Interpolation of the type you might be worried about is not about making pixels bigger. That kind of interpolation is what your TV does when you turn on frame smoothing to turn a 24fps movie into a 60fps one. The TV in court likely had it on because it's on by default on all stupid TVs these days. There is no machine learning or AI algorithm being applied to a video or picture when you zoom in on it. It's going to get fuzzy, but not in the way the defense was arguing. Their argument made zero sense and wasn't based on anything phones have ever done.
  21. Neither Apple nor Google products do that for video or any pictures, not taken on the device itself. If I send you a picture or video, your phone won't enhance it with their algorithm. That hasn't ever been been a thing phones or tablets do. Those machine learning algorithms only apply to photos taken on the device with the device's own camera/s.
  22. Something like that. Like I said, all the bad from SA outweighs any influence it's had on the Internet as a whole.
