  1. Yeah, totally unacceptable. The option of MAID should be there for almost anyone who wants it, provided they have either a terminal illness or a chronic, untreatable illness that affects quality of life. But pushing it on people because there aren't other forms of financial assistance to help them live better lives is criminal.
  2. Only slightly related to the thread, but... I decided to try buying a GPU directly from AMD on their online store, now that I am doing a new build...and managed to massively luck out. Logged in to find an RX 6950 XT for only $1070 CAD ($790 USD), which is $400 off MSRP (in Canada). 27% off. I'm not planning on completing the new build until Jan/Feb...but if I can get a 6950XT for less than a 6800XT, then I'm jumping on it, lol!
  3. It appears the attacks are not just on infrastructure, but on apartment buildings, as well. Apartments in Kkharkiv and Zaporizhzhzia hit. Strikes near Odessa have taken out power in Moldova.
  4. Huge missile attack on civilian locations today from Russia. Possibly over 200 missiles. 13 aircraft launched 8 cruise missiles each, and then another 100 or so from the Caspian Sea area. In good news, it appears that (somehow) Ukraine carried out two strikes on Russian airbases inside Russia, including against strategic bombers/tankers on the runway. No confirmation, but it's believed that four Russian large planes were damaged.
  5. US has about 12x the GDP of Canada, with about 9x the pop. What are you smoking? I always forgot this user exists until they make an OP.
  6. Yeah, made a typo. I get all that you're saying...but it doubles the price. I've never once upgraded a CPU in a single generation, I've always waited for a new gen (usually every 4 years).
  7. Huge loss for Netflix. There were rumours that there was tension, with Netflix demanding he make his shows "more scary" (jump scares, specifically), and he refused. IMO his current style of spooky atmosphere (with occasional scare) is perfect. Hill House and Midnight Mass are incredible, and Bly Manor and Midnight Club were great, as well. He also made some cryptic tweets when Midnight Club came out implying he was unhappy with Netflix's promotion. That wouldn't be surprising, as Netflix is absolutely garbage at promoting their own shows, even inside their own app. Flanagan has said for years that his personal passion project hope is The Dark Tower...well, guess who owns the rights to that?
  8. How much of this (in the past) was cops pinning a dead body on the first Black person they could find? Not that I think cops haven't gotten worse...but I also suspect they were never that good to begin with.
  9. That really sucks about Adar. Apparently the recast was for "behind the scenes" production issues. I take that to mean issues with the actor.
  10. Fla. sheriff: Students no longer fear getting ‘a-- cheeks’ ‘torn off’, need new discipline policy WWW.LOCAL10.COM Days after the Brevard County School Board ousted the superintendent, plans are underway for a new school disciplinary policy in Brevard Public Schools. I'm sure that will solve all the issues they have.
  11. Gif icons have stopped loading for me—anyone else? jpeg and png appear to show EDIT - Never mind, for some reason Ublock decided today was the day to stop trusting invision-hosted gifs.
  12. Hmm. What are the chances this will even run on low settings on my 7700k and 1080ti? Honestly up until now I haven't really felt the CPU and GPU were that outdated, everything I play (including some newer games) runs fine. But it sounds like this one needs some high-end hardware.
  13. Preliminary Lessons in Conventional Warfighting from Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine: February–July 2022 RUSI.ORG This study of the early phases of the 2022 war sheds light on Ukraine's strengths and vulnerabilities, and the need for further Western support. Written by a Ukrainian lieutenant-general and worth a read. Some key insights on how Ukraine fought Russia in the first months of the war. A few key things Ukraine practiced/learned: There is no safe space during modern warfare. Modern weapons can strike throughout operational depth The only three defenses to this are: Hardened fortifications Keep moving Deception One example of deception:
