Exclusive: Musk’s Neuralink faces federal probe, employee backlash over animal tests WWW.REUTERS.COM Elon Musk’s Neuralink, a medical device company, is under federal investigation for potential animal-welfare violations amid internal staff complaints that its animal testing is being rushed, causing... Jesus Christ. The article is maddening and horrific. Multiple times they've just accidentally installed devices on the wrong vertibrae because of sloppy protocol/no oversight, so had to kill the animals. Make Musk the next subject or shut it down.

Appropriate since we're near Christmas, but many people don't know that one of the classic Christmas carols (Carol of the Bells) is actually a Ukrainian carol set to a pagan folk song called Shchedryk. It's beautiful in Ukrainian: Yesterday actually marked the 100th anniversary of its first performance in the United States. And if you're looking for a patriotic song, Oh, the Red Kalyna in the Meadow (kalyna is a flowering tree that is considered a national symbol) is a patriotic march created for the nascent Ukrainian nation in the early 20th century which was then banned by the Soviet Union, but survived to resurface after Ukrainian independence:

It appears that the Ukrainians used a Tu-141 Strizh UAV to strike 600km into Russia (to hit the strategic bombers at the Engels airfield). It's a Soviet-made rocket drone from the 1970s that the USSR retired in 1989. However, Ukraine had a stockpile, and since 2014 has been working on fixing and using them. There are rumours that Ukraine is even building new ones. If Ukraine was able to fly a drone from the 70s 600km-deep into Russia during wartime and hit their target...it raises big questions about Russia's air defense.

I would argue that the British deserve more of the blame (and I do use the word blame intentionally, not credit) for English as the lingua franca of the world. And while its use is very beneficial for nations that exclusively use it...more harm than good has come because of the underlying reasons for it being lingua franca.

Yeah, totally unacceptable. The option of MAID should be there for almost anyone who wants it, provided they have either a terminal illness or a chronic, untreatable illness that affects quality of life. But pushing it on people because there aren't other forms of financial assistance to help them live better lives is criminal.

Only slightly related to the thread, but... I decided to try buying a GPU directly from AMD on their online store, now that I am doing a new build...and managed to massively luck out. Logged in to find an RX 6950 XT for only $1070 CAD ($790 USD), which is $400 off MSRP (in Canada). 27% off. I'm not planning on completing the new build until Jan/Feb...but if I can get a 6950XT for less than a 6800XT, then I'm jumping on it, lol!

Huge missile attack on civilian locations today from Russia. Possibly over 200 missiles. 13 aircraft launched 8 cruise missiles each, and then another 100 or so from the Caspian Sea area. In good news, it appears that (somehow) Ukraine carried out two strikes on Russian airbases inside Russia, including against strategic bombers/tankers on the runway. No confirmation, but it's believed that four Russian large planes were damaged.
