  1. They revised the D-Pad with the Xenoblade model. Prior to that quite a few people including myself had a D-Pad that wasn't registering inputs correctly. I learned it the hard way trying to play Puyo Puyo Tetris.
  2. I was playing Roundabout as it oddly got ported to the Vita, but I got so far in and found a game ending bug. A barge isn't appearing I need to jump on. The one time I got past it, I had to land on a dock and my limo clips though it resulting in an endless death loop.
  3. Good controller, but since he wants to use the D-Pad, it's dependant on if he has one with the shit D-Pad or the revised model that is said to be much improved.
  4. I will join this contest. I like games and could use a new one to play.
  5. PS4 controller would be my choice. Better D-Pad in my opinion and in a better location.
  6. I had Land of Illusion on GameGear. Still own my copy of Castle of Illusion on the Genesis. I have the Mega Drive edition though because Sega was oddly selling Mega Drive copies of some games here in the early 90's. I always wondered why. All I can assume is it was the easiest way to move inventory if it was selling better in another region. It baffled me as a kid as I had no clue what a Mega Drive was and wondered why it said that. World of Illusion is my favorite of the Sega Mickey titles. I never really got too much into Castle. World on the other hand, I beat countless times as a child and to this day, it's still one of my favorite 2D platformers.
  7. A bit too steep of an investment to catch up on the tables I'm missing sadly. Was always hoping they'd do more disc releases to archive the tables. I do wonder what the liscense holders of these tables will do with them. Would make no logical sense to pull them unless they are planning a digital product of their own.
  8. With resolutions that low, they should have had a collectors edition that included a CRT.
  9. Controllers are back in stock at BestBuy.com Just purchased one myself as I wanted a second NES controller.
  10. We're getting the boring looking one sadly. Makes zero sense too given our MVS cabs had colorful buttons.
  11. I passed on the NES Mini last time around because I just didn't want to deal with the chaos of getting one. Was glad to order one from Best Buy last night.
  12. I was sold the day it was announced. Love that franchise and I can't wait to play their new title as well, Tetris Effect.
  13. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying their isn't a loyal crowd as I've seen all the those insane posts on Facebook too, I'm just saying, brand loyality has never been strong as it has been for say Apple products. The tables can turn more quickly in the console market leading the manufacturers to have to be a bit more receptive to complaints.
  14. Just bought Pattern Recognition and Running With Scissors from Goodwill. Pattern Recognition looks interesting as I haven't read too many William Gibson books and I've been wanting to read Running With Scissors after watching the film again recently. I know Augusten Burroughs got sued over the book, but I'm still curious to get more details behind that oddball of a film.
  15. I sincerely hope that game sold enough to warrant a third. Its sequel was impressively improved and is a whole lot more fun than most realize. I just finished it a few weeks ago and was surprised as to how much I enjoyed my time with it.
  16. Not surprised given the wave of bad press they've been receiving. I understand why they haven't given they are miles ahead in sales compared to their competitors, but this generation also only has around 3 years left and then the race to the top will start again. Unlike other tech sectors, brand loyality just isn't that strong for consoles.
  17. About time, that engine scaled like shit. I recently played The Wolf Among Us on the Vita after finding it for a couple dollars and while the game itself was terrific, the engine was a diaster. I couldn't even believe it got approved in the state it was in.
  18. Just downloaded Reverie for the Vita tonight. What an incredibly fun little Zelda style indie game full of Earthbound visual charm. Only downside is it seems a bit on the short side, but it's also only $12.
  19. I use Audioquest Nighthawks with an in-line microphone cable that I got from Audioquest. I was considering getting a mod mic, but the microphone on the cable was surprisingly good. Their perfect for gaming for me since the imaging on them is stellar, they don't get too warm since their semi-open, and their so comfortable that you can wear them for hours on end without the slightest bit of pain.
  20. GT30. According to research online, it's apparently a well known issue that is caused by the ribbon cables. Sometimes reseating them or cleaning the pins can fix it, but if the cable is bad, it cannot be replaced as it's fused under the glass. I'd try to inspect/clean mine, but I just don't want to mess around with the cables until I have another TV. The last time it happened, powering the set on and off did nothing. Then, I pulled my Roku Stick out and it vanished immediately making me hope the heat from that sitick was causing issues.
  21. I'm trying to hold out till then myself. My Panasonic plasma was making the wait easy, but twice now, I've had a black bar run across the screen. Hoping it'll hold out till next year as it's far too late into the game to be spending that kind of cash when such a huge update is so close.
  22. You're experiencing image retention, not temp burn-in. Image retention scared many of people away from plasma too because people were concerned an image would burn into the display when in most cases it'll vanish over time. I've gamed on a plasma for 7 years now and my plasma is an IR magnet. I've had HUD's stuck on the screen for days to even a week before, but they always vanished in the end. OLED's have a nice feature in that when the set is powered off, they don't actually turn off right away, you just think it did since the blacks are perfect. In reality, it's scrubbing the screen to try to clean it of IR before it fully powers down. The other thing about OLED, LG is working to make burn-in less of a reality with each new generation of OLED displays. While I don't own one personally as I'm waiting for HDMI 2.1 to move to 4k unless my ribbon cable on my plasma finally fails for good, my folks were early adopters of the LG sets. They own a 1080p OLED model. Every morning they run MSNBC on it for a few hours until the afternoon when the channel is changed or the TV is turned off and their set hasn't shown any traces of burn-in. I'm jumping to OLED myself personally, but I'm a plasma owner so I know the risks and have my TV habbits trained to run content with no logos at the end of the day just to give the pixels some healthy content. If you want more opinions, I'd head over to the AVS Forums and ask fellow gamers over there what their experiences have been.
  23. Rtings has been doing long term tests of OLED burn-in of various content types. https://www.rtings.com/tv/learn/real-life-oled-burn-in-test
  24. Next year will probably be the next "big" year for TV's given they should all have HDMI 2.1.
