crispy4000 Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 Yup another one. GTA San Andres is currently free there for those who want it. RDR2 PC incoming? Quote
Kal-El814 Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 GTAV has been more profitable than the war on terror, only makes sense that 2K wants their own launcher. Quote
TheLeon Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 "Sure, I'll take San Andreas on PC" he said, before checking his Steam account and seeing that he's had San Andreas and most other GTA games on there for almost a decade. Quote
Spork3245 Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 Thank god, I needed another launcher! No, but seriously, I have GTAV PC via Rockstar (not Steam) and finding their "installer" on their website is... awful. Quote
AbsolutSurgen Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 If you have the Steam version of GTAV, it will now force you to install and run the Rockstar launcher. Quote

Dre801 Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 Nah. I'll take the same approach that I'm taking with all these streaming services. I'll stick with a couple and pass on the rest. Quote
Keyser_Soze Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Didn't this always exist? It's been around since LA Noire. Quote

Nah, stuff like the social club is baked into the games themselves and bug you constantly to join and try out their new features. So it's fine. A launcher is something that you interact with for 2 seconds to launch the game. So it should be boycotted. Quote
Xbob42 Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 I mean, you could buy and launch games through the Rockstar Social Club. So it was a launcher. Quote

In fact I believe I got a copy of GTA V and it could only be redeemed on Rockstar Social club thus I had to use it as a launcher. If you can launch games directly from it (which you can) then it is a launcher. Quote
Spork3245 Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 You couldn’t launch games through social club, running your exe forced a log-in for social club prior to the game launching. You couldn’t open a RS Social Club app and select a game to download or launch (in fact, you needed to use an internet browser to download individual installers for any game bought directly through RS’s website). Social Club was more akin to a DRM than a launcher prior to this. Quote
