I don't think that was ever actually intended to be a mainstream product though, I thought they just needed real-world usage data. They still make it for industry/hospitals/etc, IIRC.

At least when Sony and Microsoft entered the console market they already had competent gaming studios capable of creating quality games. Hell even Nintendo and Sega started off making games before they started making home consoles.
