While I know I can't get rid of it cause who knows, I feel so at peace not seeing all the BS on there from ppl I despise but have to coexist with. No FB, no Twitter, TikTok, nextdoor, Reddit, or LinkedIn. Just us together in this hellhole of a mind we have. If I could do it financially I'd just cut more and be free, lifting weights, making food, drinking a good whiskey. I haven't had any social media at all unless you count posting on D1P and Discord for Hunt: Showdown for about four years now and the whole concept feels almost alien to me now when I see people so caught up in it. Like I mean in media etc., seeing people sit in bed scrolling listlessly and all that and I absolutely did that. Not to mention the insane levels of anxiety having to worry about/interact with/appease literally hundreds of people at once. One wrong word in any direction? You're an asshole now and so on. I already am an anxious doom-thinker, I can't have that shit on my shoulders on top of it. Even with issues I side with, I don't need to know every shitty instance of something happening every moment in every city. It's relentless. I have a group I coordinate events for and all the events/invites are handled through FB's event management bits. There's no alternative that I could convince everyone in the group to adopt. Plus the group needs findable for other people looking to join the group. If it wasn't for the event/invites/RSVPs that FB makes easy, I'd have deleted my account years ago. I rarely post outside of that one group. Maybe a picture or something to keep my mom happy, every month or two generally. All my other social media is, for the most part, following others. I've never used LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter (at least I've never posted on it, but ever since they made it so you had to be logged in to even read things I haven't even read it), and I only used Facebook for about 6 months before I managed to destroy a couple relationships and decided it was a bad idea. The only social media I use is this, Reddit, and YouTube. All of which are rather anonymous Something about the whole idea of "sharing" your life has never sat well with me. I don't want to know everything about you and I don't want anyone to know everything about me. I also have no interest in portraying myself as a character. The fact that people have an expectation that everyone needs to live their life entirely in the public eye is something that I'm not sure I'll ever square with. Probably to my own detriment. Unfortunately, We've reached a point where people are suspicious of you if you don't have publicly available social media of any kind.
