Actually it's great timing. It gives me an exit option should I ever require it. 

 

Edit: And to elaborate on that, I never got my citizenship prior because I refused to do it without retaining my original German/EU citizenship. It just took this damn long to get it all sorted out because Germany is not a fan of the concept of dual citizenship at all.

There is an actual document you can attain excluding you from repercussions and therefore being essentially a "dual citizenship waiver", it's just incredibly hard to get. I had to go to court in Germany several times, bring witnesses and shit.

To the best of my knowledge, Germany does not have universal taxation (unlike the United States).

99% of other countries don't make their citizens file if they're living outside the country and have no income derived from within the country. I want to say Eritrea (who we denounced on the floor of the UN for extorting their diaspora for doing the same thing we do) and North Korea are the other two.
