Real question is: if you're as religious as you say, how can you not know such a simple passage from the Bible?

It turns out the Catholics were wasting their time with all those centuries of keeping everything in Latin to keep laypeople from reading the Bible themselves, because lol nobody was gonna read that shit anyhow tldr.

Back when I was in Georgia I was so weirded out my people praying in public at first. Obviously religion exists on the west coast, but it's mostly behind closed doors.

And then there's New Orleans, which I feel like barely counts as the south in terms of religion, and not just because it's ostensibly Catholic. Then again, I work at a gay night club and live in Treme so my view of things might be slightly askew.

my kid goes to public school and theres co-sponsored prayers before school on some fridays. it weirds me out too.

Does obesity have something to do with religion? It seems like everyone who is very religious is morbidly obese. I'm starting to think its part of being a Christian.

i think its a regional thing and some certains may be more heavily religious than others. in SF, the church i went to, everyone was pretty slim or fit.

Why are the non-religious the most knowledgeable about religion

Because it allows us to condemn the religious with the very words from their own sacred texts when they make it so very clear that they haven't read those texts at all.

"For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned" - Matthew 12:37

Also because for a lot of non-religious people actually reading and thinking about it is what made us want out.
