Somewhere, someplace @XxEvil AshxX punched a stuffed animal.

For this, I'll punch a real one.

For fuck's sake, Ubi. They're like a broken goddamn record. They're literally incapable of escaping from that same groove they've been sitting in for the past ten fucking years.

To me, "open world" means broken A.I. Splinter Cell was all about soldiers on patrols, enemies with set paths and set behaviors. Each mission was a puzzle to figure out and master. There's not a chance in hell Ubisoft will be smart enough to figure out how to do open world and stealth and not break the shit out of it.

I sadly agree. Disappointing for sure.

It’s also about releasing some diplomats in Saudi Arabia and then off to murder some fuck in Paris!

I drive by their headquarters often and was always tempted to shout “free Sam fisher”.  Now I’m tempted to yell “no open world you fools!”

edit: wait this is a different splinter cell game? Oops

Yeah - this is a remake of the original Splinter Cell, not the entirely new "open world-ish" title.

What amazes me most about this announcement video is how legitimately good the original still looks somehow. I haven't seen it in a long time and damn.

not only that, but Its the first game to introduce that 3rd person, over-the-shoulder view.

2 years later - the hot garbage that is Resident Evil 4 comes out and somehow is  praised for its “revolutionary” over-the-shoulder gameplay. Meanwhile, not only did Splinter Cell do it first, you could actually fucking move and shoot at the same time.

This is to say nothing of how jaw-dropping Chaos Theory still is even by today's standards!

Good lighting goes a long way. If this remake is like full RTX it's gonna be something else

(It won't be)

I just looked this all up and I can't believe they released those three games in a three year time span. And since I just watched the Syphon Filter retrospective video, Splinter Cell only came out two and a half years after Syphon Filter. That's insane. I mean I remember how quickly things moved especially in the 90s graphics-wise but it's still wild.

Winback predates the hot garbage that Splinter Cell was by 3 years. Meanwhile not only did Winback do it first, you could actually fucking move and shoot at the same time!

They really should remake Pandora Tomorrow. Unless something changed it's the only one you can't buy.

Never heard of it, but I looked it up.

I don’t get it. You could move and shoot in splinter cell.  Also, say “splinter cell is hot garbage” again.  SAY IT!!!

Behind the back 3rd person, spy game, even have a laser sight. Seems pretty similar 🤔

not the same thing. Cmon man!

there were many 3rd person games with a view like that before Splinter Cell. What made SC unique was the zoomed-in view that placed the camera just behind Sam Fischer’s right shoulder.
