XxEvil AshxX
That's a fancy Toys R Us. Our gaming section was slips of paper you had to take to the front. And ours didn't carry nearly that many accessories. Of course, nothing can touch Toys R Us in the 80's. That place was magical.
best3444
That's awesome. Good ole days and great memories during that era.

Twas surprised not to see it in these pictures. Apparently they're taken from two Toys R Us stores in New Jersey.

Indeed. And at Christmas After a while, it was just a store. But back then, it was a culture. I can still recite every single word of that fucking song.
Ghost_MH
Toys R Us was always the place to go to buy Nintendo consoles. It's where I bought my N64, GCN, Wii, and Wii U. Prior to that, it was all Child World for me. They died out in the early-mid 90s, though. Those castle stores were the best.

They went from looking like those pictures to just sticking everything behind glass.
Keyser_Soze
Fake toys R us. Like @XxEvil AshxX said. A real TRU had the slips you took to a guy at window.

Joe
The Paramus TRU was my childhood TRU. It definitely used to have the slips, but I guess they did away with them later on.

A buddy of mine was one of those dicks that tried to sell a PS2 box on eBay for hundreds. Yikes.

Totowa TRU was mine. Mom would bring me most weekends. It did have slips. I actually worked there once in 2007.
Kal-El814
I have an oddly specific memory of being in a Toys r Us back in the day, looking at NES games they had available. The back of the box for Simon’s Quest referred to the first game being a “cake walk” and I needed to ask my dad what that meant. Ever since then whenever I see someone use that idiom I think of Toys r Us and Simon’s Quest.
