Россия invades Україна | UPDATE (14 May 2024) - Russia launches new invasion from the north into Kharkiv, soon to launch second corridor into Sumy. Situation is dire

I wonder what is happening in to GTA because of this. A lot of drivers from old work place said that a lot of their kids played in some sort of hockey league. Tons of Russian kids play on these 18+ leagues and are sent here to live on their own. Now for that to happen, these Russians must have some good cash behind them. So I wonder if these sanctions will either 1) force these kids back to mother Russia or 2) parents were aware of what was coming and loaded them with money ahead of time?

If nothing else, this invasion should solidify the global security issue of moving away from gas/oil. The EU is afraid to go hard on Russia (for good reason) because their gas will be cut off.

It continuously boggles my mind to no end that the move to renewables isn't framed as an INHERENTLY "national security issue".

“We have enough oil in this country we just have to cast off the liberal socialist environmental rules and law and fully unlock our energy independence” is the center to right wing opinion

It's doubly baffling considering the military definitely views it that way.

Well US oil and gas is about to make a ton of money selling to Europe and probably about to see US production explode again, a big factor in why it was so expensive before this in the US was because producers were sending more to Europe where they could make more money.

This is the shit that scares me the most.  We already had that gas pipeline hacked last year in the US. We start trading cyber attacks back and forth it's going to effect so much for us :s

This excites me actually, we have seen the tip of the iceberg of what we can do in this front. Stuxnet is impressive, but just the beginning. Some of our private companies can more than hold their own against Russia as well.
