My doomporn scenario is that China has installed secret kill switches on every chip they've produced over the last few decades - And any device can be turned off/destroyed remotely if they so choose.  It's their own version of MAD, because pretty much every computerized device sold in America has Chinese chips in them.

The only way “WWIII begins” is if enough people are manipulated into thinking “China is Nazi Germany” and start pushing for hostile measures to be taken. Like I dunno maybe you haven’t been paying attention to geopolitics over the past 25 years but there’s one country that’s constantly picking fights and starting wars, and it’s not China.
