I love teaching, but dear me, the Christmas period is so full on.

I won’t lie, when you’re on top of things, the 13 weeks of holiday is spectacular. When you’re not, it’s still a welcome respite and time to catch up. -
It’s like our equivalent of crunch. Normal teaching work load that needs sorting (as per). Organising trips to go ahead at the start of next year. Planning out events for next half term. Risk Assessments, parent letters and actual logistics for the above. Re-writing staffing timetables, interventions, individual education plans, SEND reviews, attendance conversations for children between 90-95%… Theatre trip with 2 bespoke risk assessments. Christmas Concert rehearsals and performance (also needing a risk assessment). Special after school children’s event. Ensuring that all the curriculum is covered, despite losing about a week of the year due to all the extra bits going on. It’s about as busy as doing the job twice for the past 3 weeks. Still the best job ever mind.

I’ve mulled over what I’d like to see for the next game and have two strands: Idea One Traditional Zelda approach (iterative items, metroidvania) but use the concept from Link Between Worlds and have items available to rent on completion of side quests and main line quests to earn money. I’d even be OK with it using the style of Links Awakening (remake) which I loved. This would be a quick turn around for Zelda and could well be farmed out to Capcom/Namco etc Idea Two In a similar vibe to modern Zelda, have a few key powers that can be employed: sword, shield, and bow (no degradation please) and focus on a more story-heavy, full VO experience. Puzzles (Dungeons, Temples, Caves) that use the more limited powers and weapons to solve but have a large ‘scope’. Both would work for me and I would be happy for both to be released with the matter being what I want from the next main game - marrying of the old and the new.

Looks like we’ll finally be getting that FPS Zelda Miyamoto wanted back in ‘95. -

More Mario, more *sigh* Goldeneye, and that’s been it. Edit: I played some more God of War Ragnarok this morning. It’s a good game - like a lot of things I own - but since starting it a few weeks ago I’ve managed to play about 4 hours. Finding the time to actually get through a console game is just a bit tricky. -

As it stands right now, something on the Switch. By the time I’m home, sorted things out, had dinner and sat down…I may be all tuckered out and may just watch telly. -

The plan is GoW:R whilst my wife does bed time then switch over to Mario Wonder or N64. I just very much feel in a gaming mood at the moment. -

Doom is brilliant to dip into and out of. If I had a handheld PC, the Yakuza series would be my pick. -
That might be a next year purchase if I can save up (a new TV for the first time…ever).

I’m liking the Switch Expansion more than I thought I would. Started Oracle of Ages (as part of a disguised attempt to play through the Zelda games I haven’t managed yet - so this, Minoan Cap, Link to the Past - the latter being games I got 3/4 of the way through and, for whatever reason, stopped). Edit: it’s way too much money, but I’m really enjoying gaming at the moment (clearly must be a shift in the weather) to the point I’m really thinking about buying a PlayStation Portal so I can play something whilst my daughter watches cartoons. I think with one my wife and I would easily see off a game every few weeks each. -

Today has been maybe 45-69 minutes of God of War Ragnarok, dying over and over on the same level in Super Mario Bros Wonder (the rising pink stuff), then on the Switch N64 expansion, I played through the first three levels of Goldeneye and then completed Pokemon Puzzle League on easy. -
General Gaming Ok, the dust is finally settling. What's your GOTY?
gamer.tv replied to best3444's topic in The Spawn Point
Based on the game I found the best, Metroid Prime Remastered was incredible. I’ve owned but never beaten the game on GameCube and just really enjoyed my time with the game. TofK was fantastic, Super Mario Wonder has been great and we haven’t picked up BG3, Spiderman 2 or AW2 yet. -

Put with my family on Sunday for a pub lunch which was lovely. Also, slightly more belatedly, some friends will hopefully be coming over on Friday to play some board games.
