  1. 2020 should be a good year for them too, with games like Bayonetta 3, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Metroid Prime 4 and others dropping next year.
  2. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Super Mario Maker 2 Dragon Quest Builders 2 Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order Fire Emblem: Three Houses Collection of Mana Astral Chain Samurai Shodown The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening Pokemon Sword/Shield Luigi’s Mansion 3 Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition S // Super Turbo Championship Revival Edition + Knuckles, also featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series Plus + Maybe Daemon X Machina And not sure if this counts, but I’m also looking forward to the eventual release of the final Shovel Knight DLC.
  3. *sigh* Alright, apparently there has been some confusion and misunderstanding about what I've been getting at (except you, @Raggit !). So I'm gonna try and laid it out as simply as I can to get you h8ers off my jock. *I* feel that a few small sacrifices to a game are acceptable when making it portable, so long as gameplay isn't hindered in any major way. If you don't agree, then you have a different opinion than I do. And I will respect that. Now, back to the topic at hand, if the only thing The Witcher 3 sacrifices on Switch is resolution, I'm cool with that. *IF* however, it ends up suffering from all the dumpster fire garbage that @Man of Culture described, then I am NOT cool with that. And I would not endorse getting the Switch version of that game, even if it is portable. No sooner than I would recommend Borderlands on Vita or Street Fighter II on Gameboy from back in the day. (both of those are baaaaaaaad versions of those games!) Oh, and no, @Xbob42 that is NOT my favorite version of Pac-Man. What a ridiculous thing to even suggest. It's not even portable. What's wrong with you? Get stuffed. Though if it were portable....
  4. Don't fall for @Keyser_Soze's tricks! I wasn't...I was making an analogy between (what used to be) high-end, cutting-edge 16-bit graphic games and their Gameboy counterparts being kinda the same as taking a modern, 3D open-world game like The Witcher 3 and paring it down to run on Switch. Yeah, sacrifices are going to be made so the game can be shoe-horned onto the hardware. Mostly graphical sacrifices, I think. But the core game should still be as good as the original version, so...at least for me, that lands clearly in the "no harm, no foul" territory. Using my example above, have you played Contra: The Alien Wars on Gameboy? That title has NO business being as good as it is, especially considering the hardware it is on. But, it *IS* good. Really good. And if handled properly, I think the same *could* be true for a portable version of The Witcher 3. Consider these more modern examples; I seem to recall people crying foul at some of the (minor, IMO) sacrifices several console games had when they were ported to more modern handheld systems. Non-animated backgrounds in SUPER Street Fighter IV on 3DS, some scaled-down character models in the Vita version of Mortal Kombat, and somehow less traffic (shorter race tracks?) in Need for Speed: Most Wanted on Vita. (or something like that) But you know what? All of those games were still fantastic on the handhelds, even if they weren't the PRIME or BEST versions of those games. The sacrifices made were of such little consequence, that the privilege of being able to play those games on-the-go was an "even trade" to have them on smaller hardware. I'm just saying the same could be true for this game, too.
  5. I think you jest, but isn't that how some cross-platform games work when Switch players play PS4/Xbox players? In Fortnite and Rocket League and the like?
  6. Heh. Re-reading through this thread...it's funny to me that screen resolution is such a big deal. I mean, I know it's 2019, and we're talking about the Switch (a handheld/console hybrid) and times/tastes have changed...but wow. I remember back in the day I picked up games like Contra III, The King of Fighters '95 and Battletoads & Double Dragon - for Gameboy. If screen size or resolution (or even color, lol) was as big of a deal to me then as screen resolution is to y'all now...yikes. I would have missed out on some great portable games.
  7. Meh, don’t sweat it. That system wasn’t great. I’m a fairly big Nintendo fan, but I pretty much hated the Wii U. I wouldn’t have even owned one if my son didn’t beg me and my wife for it (which we eventually broke down and got him one for Christmas). The system kinda sucked, and most of the actual good games that came out for it have been ported to Switch. So if there was ever a Nintendo console to skip, Wii U was definitely it.
  8. Ah, gotcha. Well, the Switch definitely has a bunch of first party ports of Wii U games on it. It has kind of become notorious for it, actually. Ha ha. But if you missed out on some of those games on Wii U, they are certainly worth experiencing for the first time on Switch.
  9. Oh yeah, I meant to post this earlier. Incidentally, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is $20 to download. (on Wii U) It'd be miserable...for you. But for some people out there (like @sblfilms ) that's...just how they roll. I have a buddy that doesn't pay full price for any video games, either. And *ANOTHER* buddy of mine doesn't buy games at all...he just subscribes to Playstation Plus and only plays the games that are offered through the service each month. And that works for him. *shrugs* Different strokes, different folks and all. Me, personally? Hell no, LOL! I'm an idiot with my money, I buy the stuff I want Day One. And lately I'm buying the Collector's Edition/Limited Edition, spending way more money than I should, haha. Some people don't mind waiting on games, but personally I'm sometimes a bit impatient.
  10. How old are we talking? Because they do have some old Nintendo arcade games available to download from the eShop. So far, no first party SNES/N64/GCN/Wii ports. At least...not yet!
  11. Ha ha, fair enough! Yeah, gotta admit...sometimes there is just something "special" about playing the new hotness when it first comes out, and the hype level is through the roof. Especially so if it's a game your friends are also playing either at the same time, or with you. Still though! Think of the savings! The savings!
  12. Kinda. With the online subscription service, you get a bunch of NES games to play (with online multiplayer added). Otherwise, you're stuck playing whatever games get officially ported to the Switch, like the games in the Mega Man Legacy Collection and the recently released Castlevania Collection and Contra Collection.
  13. Holy crap for real?!? ....why would anyone ever pay full price for any of Sony's games? A little bit of patience can save someone a bunch of cash, it seems. For DOOM, is it really Sony or Nintendo that sets the price for that game on their respective platforms? Or is it the publisher's call on that? I assumed it was up to the publisher, but I'm realizing I know less and less about modern video games lately.
  14. You’re not wrong, just wondering about “bang for buck” ratio. Though it should be noted some games that aren’t good go down in price faster. Mostly because they don’t sell. Which I don’t think is an issue for Tropical Freeze, or, I assume, Spider-Man.
  15. @Paperclyp Yeah, prices on stuff is always subjective, I think. What’s expensive to one person may be no big deal to another. Is Spider-Man as good of a game as Tropical Freeze? Both are with $20? Regardless of what year they are released? Honestly asking, I haven’t played either game yet.
  16. Is it okay I haven’t played the previous two games yet? Bah, who am I kidding I’ll never play the game. I’ll buy it, play an hour or so, then forget it forever. Just like I did with Breath of the Wild.
  17. This was a cool announcement. I’ve only played Orta myself. I’m looking forward to seeing/playing the series’ roots.
  18. Lots of good deals on 3DS eShop, too! ...not that anyone cares, of course.
  19. How much would you consider “fair” for Tropical Freeze?
  20. 540p?!? That is AMAZING!!!! Do you guys even realize how much sharper than 3DS that is!?!? Also what the hell is Gwent.
  21. A little underwhelmed at the moment. But I like it this way. Why? Because, if Nintendo decides to surprise us with some (very early) footage of Metroid Prime 4, I’ll enjoy having my mind blown.
  22. You know full well I’ll be stuck in the past forever! I only just today bought Hollow Knight! That said, I’ve had my eye on Katana Zero....hmmm.
