  1. I played a bit of this last night, only went through the Very Easy tower, though. The fighting system seems very different from what I remember about MK. Though I haven’t played the reboot or MKX. I accidentally pulled off a couple of Brutalities. Not sure if that was done because I was playing the easiest mode, or it that automatically happens when you deliver a powerful final hit on your opponent. Either way? This game is pretty fun.
  2. Apparently the story is debunked. At least for now. Nintendo stated that are not announcing a new Switch at E3.
  3. @ort Sorry you had such a terrible experience! I’m lucky because one of the Switches at my place have gotten some really bad treatment (my 11-year old threw the system down on the floor after losing a Splatoon 2 match) and so far...everything still works perfectly. It’s likely you got a bum system...but Nintendo should have fixed it. Strange that they were unable to do so. That’s some real bad luck you’ve had. You haven’t broken any mirrors lately have you?
  4. @Keyser_Soze Oh snap, I had that one! Loved the voices it made. COW-a-BUNG-AAAAHH!!! KEY-YAAAH!
  5. God damn it @Xbob42. Don't come in here shitting on my Gameboy thread with your facts and history! ....but wow, seriously...Microvision? Never heard of it! But pretty cool bit of video game trivia. Neat, thanks for sharing! Whoa, didn't realize the Canadian Gameboy was different! I'm learning a lot today.
  6. You wouldn't be wrong for thinking this...April 21 is the Japanese release date. It didn't hit North America until July or August of 1989. And even later for PAL regions. I just wanted to celebrate the original release date. Maybe I'll revive this thread once the North American release date rolls around later this year... I enjoyed this story, and I respect the lesson your sister was taught. Good on ya. Tobacco is a hell of a drug. I had a similar story about acquiring the Gameboy. My parents were also anti-gaming, so I had to buy the handheld with my own money.
  7. The first true mobile video game system, the first system I ever bought with my own money, and home to some of the best games on the planet! What are your favorite memories of the One Handheld To Rule Them All?
  8. Steel Empire for sure! LOVE that game! My company (www.videogamesmonthly.com) gave that one out to a member of ours recently. CiB. He was very happy that day, lol.
  9. LOL! I didn’t even see this but I just referenced that same commercial right after you! Man that was a great ad. Memorable even 20+ years later.
  10. There is speculation out there, based on the wording of the press release when this collection was first announced, that this is only one of at least two compilations coming. Nothing *officially* announced of course, but it’s likely we will see another Castlevania Collection in the future.
  11. So long as they don’t screw this up like Sony did with theirs, this could be an amazing little system.
  12. https://www.theverge.com/2019/4/17/18450548/new-nintendo-switch-model-release-date-report-nikkei Confirmed...?
  13. You mean Rondo of Blood/Symphony of the Night? From what I understand, this collection is focusing on the “origins” of the series, and doesn’t seem like any games past 1994 are included. They should have included at least Rondo of Blood, instead of that terrible Simon’s Quest. And instead of the Gameboy version of The Adventure, we should’ve gotten the far superior The Adventure ReBirth From WiiWare. Bah. As for the DS games...I feel like they will have to rework them quite a bit to play properly on a single screen. Not to mention the touch-screen stuff from Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin. But that’s Konami’s decision to make, not Nintendo’s.
  14. In turn-based games (either RPG or strategy/tactics) I really appreciate having a “make the game run at triple speed” button. I don’t have to sit through enemy animations or wait for my action command to fill up again for so long. I’m specifically thinking of the HD version of Final Fantasy VII, but I know other games do that, too. Including the upcoming SteamWorld Quest! It’s a real time saver. Also, whenever fighting game characters that know each other (or know *of* each other), I think it’s cool when they have a little back-and-forth banter before and/or after the fight. That may not be a small thing, since it often involves extra animation, voice overs, etc. But it’s a nice touch that I dig.
  15. From what we understand, the launch of the game will feature 16 characters (13 returning, 3 new) and then others being available later via DLC. No word on WHO those DLC characters are yet.
  16. That was the limit? No sir. The game is called OCTOPATH TRAVELER. Who names their game that? Creative people. Boom.
  17. Perhaps. But there would be major re-working of the controls, at least for Corruption. That game was designed around the Wiimote, and I’m not sure how that would translate to the Switch’s more traditional controller(s). NG+ would be very welcome. We don’t know everything about the game yet, so who knows...maybe it does have that mode! Or something similar.
  18. Why do you not have a Switch already? You should get one for the Link’s Awakening remake. I honestly believe it’s a far better game than A Link To The Past. Worth the price of admission for sure!
  19. Only if you have kids that want to play the game with you. Or a significant other like @legend mentioned.
