  1. Yo are you fucking kidding me with this shit? I’m getting real tired of your little act man. You’re not even reading what people are saying, just cherry picking what you want to hear then inserting some high and mighty faux bullshit counter point that involves accusing people of being racist or homophobic or like hitler or whatever. Shit is tired my man. Never, in anything ANYONE in this board has said, has someone said that profitability is THE metric for judging the success of art. NO ONE SAID THAT. It was listed as one of the ways something can be judged as successful. Along with critical acclaim and acclaim from the general public. Those are 3 ways that if combined you could say something is generally successful. Of course everyone has their own personnel take on what is and isn’t good art. No one is belittling that point. But this shit where every time someone disagrees with you, you jump out and accuse them of thinking like a racist or nazi or whatever is bullshit and needs to stop. Grow up man. Grow. Up.
  2. Good that looks great. Hopefully it’s more Casino Royale and Skyfall than Specter and that other one.
  3. that was me that said that. And to be fair I said it wasn’t a mistake because it was financially successful AND critically praised AND loved by the general audiences. I feel like when you hit all 3 of those it’s hard to say a mistake was made.
  4. I just don’t see Sauron and The Emperor as on the same level. The quest wasn’t the same. The stakes weren’t the same. The Emperor is barely even in the OT let alone the central source of conflict like Sauron is. Also the scenario you described is literally the plot of LotR. Sauron has come back from the dead. Also the Emporer isn’t the main evil in the ST either. I mean maybe they reveal him to be behind it all but outside of the PT he’s never front and center the way Sauron is. They’re not the same kind of antagonist. I’m not saying there’s no chance the Emperors use in the new movie won’t be stupid. Won’t know till it comes out. But I’m not willing to dismiss his mere existence as a terrible story idea without seeing how the story plays out.
  5. Honestly after Kingdom of Heaven I believe anything is possible. The theatrical cut was so bad it made me physically angry. The DC is arguably the greatest epic of all time. Lol I can’t count anything out now.
  6. Looks solid. I’m down. This is what I’d rather get from these remakes. A retelling instead of a shot for shot remake.
  7. Disney’s error? What error? So far they’ve released two MASSIVELY successful movies. Two movies that made an ungodly amount for money and were, and I know this board doesn’t want to hear this, for the most part universally praised. So what mistake did Disney make? That they didn’t make 3 low budget Art House versions of Star Wars with Daniel Day Lewis screaming at Wilem Dafoe for 3 hours?
  8. Same. My wife and I only get to 3 or 4 movies a year at this point. There was no way we were missing Knives Out. So good.
  9. I blew through the first 6 episodes just now. My sides literally hurt. The David character might be my favorite character on TV. Ever.
  10. Remember when I said even my kid understood the helmet thing...L O L
  11. Is Frozen 2 even any good? I feel like I’ve heard nothing about it. At this point in the originals run it was already being compared to the Golden Age movies and Let it Go was blowing up.
  12. i thought the same thing while watching it. I’d love to see more of Daniel Craig playing this detective.
  13. I assumed from the Flashbacks that his family is killed in that attack he keep reliving. Then joins/is taken by the Mandoliroans and raised as one. Or something along those lines.
  14. To be honest I don’t think the inability to see Mandos face has reduced the amount of feeling or emotion in the character at all. I mean he’s a stoic character by nature anyway so the little stares and head movements we’ve gotten paired with the little dialogue we got has done a PHENOMONAL job at subtly conveying his emotion. The show does both. But you can’t recognize that the dialogue in the show is limited then say the show is overly explicative and doesn’t show enough. The majority of the story telling and emotion is being delivered through images not words. We are shown both BY having fun and Mandos struggle with his connection to the small village and it’s reminder of his childhood. It was done as well as you could in a 30 minute episode and wasn’t as nearly out of the blue as say Ready Player Ones romance. I wouldn’t at all call it a love story. But I would say they did a good job conveying a connection between the two characters, something that could have been more had it been allowed to continue. To say it was ham fisted implies he kissed her or she professed her love for him out of the blue at the end. Neither happened. I really can’t see how people are missing the building emotions and bonds being developed. Let alone how you can miss the motivations for each character. Like what did he or any other character do that didn’t make sense?
  15. I didn’t bother reading any of that because past posts lead to believe its full of nonsense. I’m sure you used some big words though so 👍🏻
  16. Ehhh you’d have to go a lot lower to get me to bite on all those.
  17. yikes. Even my kid picked up on the idea that he was torn about staying.
  18. Wait, all you got out of the helmet stuff in that episode was he took it off just to eat? There was A LOT more going on symbolically with the helmet this episode.
  19. It was everything I hoped it would be. I love how he leaned into some tropes and circumvented others. There were so many little things in this movie that were just perfect.
