  1. In 2007. I was running a private business' entire mailorder warehouse for them, including two employees. I had gone back to Germany to see my family for the first time in a decade that summer, a really big thing for me, and I had told my boss about this over a year prior. I was off for three weeks without pay which I had been saving for as well. When I came back I called him up to see how everything was going and he said everything fine. I get a call a day later and he informed me that indeed nothing was fine and he's laying me off effective immediately, including both of the other warehouse employees. So not only did he lie, then shitcan me right after, but he also did it strategically after I had taken a 3 weeks unpaid "vacation". There's a way to handle if you absolutely have to do it, this was not it. I wish I could say I wasn't happy to see his entire fucking business fail approximately two years later but... Dude even tried to reconnect with me on Facebook many years later like we were pals so he could lament what a trainwreck his life is. Cool story bro. Also, it turned out he ruined his own business blowing literally all his savings on being a sugar daddy to some lady with several kids he was bankrolling.
  2. If it's characters whose developments I never asked for, it certainly was The Office's cast so I'm cool!
  3. I frequently agree with you and @Xbob42 on minutiae so for now I'm going to take your opinions to heart and get something else. You were able to verbalize a lot better what I hate about that Ubi open world template more so than myself and it's indeed the whole safe, generic, focus-tested feel. I've been meaning to play Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen for years, maybe I should do that instead...
  4. I'm with you in terms of preferring interactivity and gameplay-serving things over sheer graphical fidelity so I could imagine feeling the same way about it actually. I mainly thought of it because I was curious about 4K/HDR games to check out and I keep seeing this on mentioned nonstop. I might be getting that fix with God Of War already though, a game that I actually thoroughly like. PS: I've never played Witcher 3 either on account of its combat being seemingly shitty.
  5. Yeah I'm gladly not expecting that. MGSV is one of my favorite games of the past few years and it'd take a lot to get anywhere near that gameplay from basically any release. That "facade" feeling though is certainly unfortunate. I still may buy a Switch eventually and give BotW a real shot as I feel I went in really biased in hindsight when I borrowed it. Unrelated but thanks for everyone chiming in!
  6. So fucking on board with this one. According to some beta impressions I've seen, the gameplay supposedly really delivers as well with very tight controls and traversal.
  7. Well, the combat seemingly being good does make me want to try it honestly. And yeah, it's always on sale and pretty cheap so not much to lose here I guess. I mean, I didn't have a problem with MGSV's literally empty open world because the actual game was so fucking good.
  8. Somehow comic book stuff actively turns me off unlike seemingly 99% of the American population. I've actively avoided the game because of being A) open world B) Spider-Man. I like the environments in Horizon, that's the appealing part to me so far.
  9. I should clarify, yes, you're right about that: 1. I hate the idea of HUD vomit making me feel like I'm simply performing a never-ending list of chores. Hope compasses and waypoints can be disabled and the game is still playable. 2. I dislike nonstop crafting, massive skill trees, fifty billion busywork fetch side quests. 3. I don't like a feeling of...aimlessness. In short, I hope there's a relatively propulsive main story here. 4. Weak combat but you guys already addressed this. Last open world game I played was RDR2 and I thought the actual game was terribly designed, and utterly boring from a gameplay standpoint, outside of the beautiful world. Ass Creed 2 was the first game I remember actively hating for being open world btw. I didn't make it more than three hours into my free copy of Far Cry 4, it's my bar for how shit I find open world games.
  10. Just got a 4K/HDR TV finally and looking at a list of games with best Pro enhancements etc., I'm thinking of giving Horizon a shot. Some questions since I'm generally not into open world games from what I've tried. How "open world Ubi formula" is this game on scale of 1 to 10? Is the combat engaging and good? Just how big is it?
  11. I actually ended up watching about three episodes of season 7 randomly and it was dreadful. Officially done! I'm curious to see the actual ending ending, at what episode of season 9 should I jump in you think?
  12. I started a new playthrough of God Of War (PS4) because I bought a 4K/HDR TV. I initially just wanted to check how it looks and this game is so good, it totally sucked me in again even though I finished it only a few months ago.
  13. I actually hope this turns out good. I always loved the idea of Mirror's Edge despite it being executed somewhat poorly.
  14. This is one of the most Bateman mugshots ever. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about.
  15. Oh wow, we've arrived at weed being the cause for mass shootings now. I was actually worried that it may be assault weapons being readily available or cowboy culture or any of that, phew.
  16. Oh I didn't mean it like that or against you posting it, I just meant that it's an incredibly ugly situation and it turned my stomach.
  17. I don't know why I watched that footage, it's not like I didn't know what was coming but it made me nauseous. The kid is just running away into a wide open field and this guy pops off half a magazine into his back. We all know the absolute worst case scenario is this guy is put on some leave of absence, completely insane by all metrics.
  18. Thanks for the tip, will start sticking to that and just ignore worrying about LP score. I see numbers, I worry.
  19. And yet every Battle Lounge is filled with Rookie players that have a thousand+ total games and absolutely crush everyone else. Do people use cheats to bring their league stats down to do this shit or what is going on then? I'm not saying you're wrong, I just don't get that part I guess. I'm new to online fighters like I said and while it's really cool and fun to have someone even remotely even skilled, there are very long streaks so far of people with a crazy win ratio and total matches destroying everyone in low ranks. Just getting really frustrated with the whole experience and can't seem to grasp how it all works as it appears all over the place. Also what does the level next to your character indicate? There are LP, levels next to your character face and a different level counter, I never know what's what.
