  1. "Center for Performing Arts" From Wikipedia: So again, it only covers theater, not exactly movies, books, comics, etc. Just busting your balls, basically.
  2. A Futile and Stupid Gesture - 7/10 I didn't know much about the two guys who started National Lampoon, so this was all new to me. Good stuff. It was a pretty funny movie that has a surprising amount of heart.
  3. From the article: Doesn't seem like there's all that much to see here. The implication of his statement (which of course could be deliberately formulated as to deceptively give this impression) seems to me to be that they haven't had much or any interaction since. Unless it comes out that they were plotting America's downfall in front of 300 guests , I'm not sure what this should mean other than that they became acquainted. If it comes out that they've had a lot of contact since, that's something. But I'm not sure what to make of this by itself.
  4. I couldn't figure out where this might fit except for possibly here. Randy Rainbow is rather hit and miss, IMO, but I saw this earlier today and got a good laugh out of it.
  5. Years and years ago it seems that Malwarebytes was the anti-spyware/malware software to use, but I haven't been keeping up with the trends for a long time. Is it still trustworthy? Are the premium services worth it?
  6. Like we said in the other thread a while ago, it seems like it's education and social services that are sorely lacking. We are fundamentally a nation of idiots. Edit - Probably "a nation of idiots" is a gross oversimplification, but there is certainly a large undercurrent of ignorance and fear in the US. Also, it reminds me of something I heard a long time ago... I can't remember the exact quote, but it was something like: "Almost anyone who would be willing to run for office is probably not the kind of person you want to be giving power to."
  7. I like that you specified "to a woman." I miss both of those guys.
  8. I watched Fucking Berlin on Netflix. It tells the story of a 20 year old student who moves to Berlin to study at the university and ends up making one bad decision after the other, becoming a prostitute, cheating on her boyfriend, dropping the university, etc. and then getting upset about it when it all inevitably blows up in her face. I rate it meh/10 . The acting is OK and the main actress is very cute IMO, but those are about the only points of redemption I could find here.
  9. I know that @Remarkableriots posted this in his SDCC thread but it didn't seem to be getting much attention there. I think this looks great. As someone also commented on reddit, I like a lot that it's serialized, i.e. telling a single story that carries over between episodes, ala Bojack Horseman, one of my favorite recent shows. Considering how much I loved Futurama and that I'm really getting a Fantasy Futurama vibe from this, I can't wait! Also, gotta love the song in the background.
  10. I've been reading War on Peace by the journalist Ronan Farrow. A very fascinating look at the history of American diplomacy and its decline in recent years. So I'm learning all kinds of shit!
  11. I agree that "The Stage" doesn't seem like a fitting name, since there's more than just stage theater there. If we don't want to just call it "Entertainment," how about something like: "Tinseltown, Silicon Valley, and Hogwarts" or "Are You Not Entertained?!"
  12. That really was a crazy read, thanks. I mean... if his story is true and his mother really was trying to kill him, then sure, the only way to have stopped her was probably with the gun. But obviously, if neither one of them had had guns (and if she was mentally ill, she certainly shouldn't have), he probably wouldn't have killed his mother.
