  1. Text adventures, LCD handheld games, platformers that feature a blue hedgehog, sides-scrolling beat-'em ups, isometric shooters, arcade hockey games, paddle controlled tennis games, etc.
  2. No -- should I be? I won't get in a debate with you over the benefits of the last 20 years of technology and game design. And what that has allowed development teams to do. I am also not going to get in a debate with you on what makes a genre. "Holding-Up" is a subjective thing -- I am certainly not being critical of Chrono Trigger -- and it was one of the greatest games of its time. But, to illustrate my original point. If it was released today on PS4 for the first time -- exactly as it was released on SNES in '95 - fpr $60. Do you thing it would be widely recognized as one of the best RPGs of all time? Would it be in the conversation for GOTY in 2018?
  3. If you decide to create super-specific subgenres that don't have modern AAA games -- you can make the argument that PS4/XboxOne have the best in almost every genre. While you could make the same argument for some of Switch's games (i.e. Mario, Zelda) , it's library is still too limited for me to put it in the same category. But I'm not sure its valuable to get into a debate in this thread on why I think Forza Horizon 3 is a better racing game than Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and F-Zero. Or that if Chrono Trigger were to be released in 2018 for $60, exactly as it was on SNES, very few people would put it in the same "echelon" as modern RPGs such as Persona 5, Witcher 3 or Horizon:ZD.
  4. I have the cube -- and I agree the biggest advantage is that Alexa>Cortana. Up until 2 weeks ago, Xbox was my streaming box....
  5. My favourite console of all time has to either be the PS4 or Xbox1 -- both have the best examples of video games in almost every genre. If you were to ask me to answer this question 5 years from now, I fully expect to answer PS5 of XboxNext. Games are just continually getting so much better, year-on-year. If you were to ask me which was the best "in its day" -- the PS2 consistently had the most and best games. Because game development has gotten so expensive, I don't think we will ever get that much high quality software coming out on an ongoing basis, ever again.
  6. I can understand the criticism of this year’s first half output - Japanese games generally don’t appeal to my tastes. However, this fall and spring-‘19 look epic (for me).
  7. Not sure I qualify as “good”. Just better than the group I casually play with. I now now have two expansions I’ve never even opened...
  8. Dominion - I became “that” guy among my friends (who played to much of it and became much better than them).
  9. After last year’s great output, this year has mostly been backlog cleanup for me. The only game I have played from this year is God of War.
  10. We’re about 4 months from a new gem of cards your money will go further in the fall. A 1070Ti will handle most games at max @ 1440p.
  11. Are you local to a MicroCenter? +1 on waiting for lower GPU prices - lots of rumours of lower prices on the horizon
  12. I would drop the Blu-Ray drive and extra case fans, and put the money into a better video card.
  13. Scuf makes something similar. Though, I have never used one.
  14. Paddles are completely removable and configurable.
  15. You can’t justify half of the stuff I have bought. However, my kids keep stealing my Elite controller because they like it better. Ive never had any issues with the paddles. But the Elite controller is better than any other controller I have used. And I have no regrets.
  16. Yes. It was releasing on other platforms already. Plus, it’s target demographic is completely different to Xbox’s. All of the the decisions are motivated by money. MS/Nintendo are trying to mitigate their smaller user bases. Sony is trying to take advantage of its much larger user base. exactly
