  1. A good article from the past: ArsTechnica: Explaining how fighting games use delay-based and rollback netcode
  2. 1) He is absolutely right about the state of AAA storytelling 2) Funny he didn't do any research into who Jeff Cannata is. Calling him a writer (he isn't), and not recognizing that he is a movie critic. 3) Every time he mispronounced Jason Schreier's [its shryer, not scryer] last name, I wanted to slap him. 4) Jim Sterling is the Jar Jar Binks of video game Youtubers.
  3. I remember reading that the X27, which is HDR1000, was getting the updated module that supports VRR over HDMI. https://www.tftcentral.co.uk/blog/acer-predator-x27-p-with-minor-updates-now-supporting-vrr-over-hdmi/
  4. I've started playing through Witcher 3 on PC (1440p, Ultra ~70fps). And while it looks good, it is a significant step down graphically from other open world games I have played recently (i.e. AC:Odyssey, RDR2). I've noticed lots of low resolution textures, geometry pop-in and clipping-galore. Saw this video pop up in my youtube feed: I have never really been a game modder. Does anyone have any experience with modding Witcher 3? Any suggestions on graphics-focused mods and comments on stability/things to watch out for?
  5. I thought that the game was 4-5 maps, rather than 1 open world? Am I missing something?
  6. 1) You don't think they are primarily motivated by having the opportunity of playing future games? 2) If they were focused on older games, don't you think that PC games have more options to make them look better? Won't Witcher 2 look better on a PC than on a SeX -- because SeX won't have the graphical options to use Ultra? You can easily hook up your PC to your TV if HDR is your priority. I'm not sure that most people bring their Xbox's to other people's houses to game. If that's your main motivation, that's something completely different from your previous posts.
  7. They've fixed the issue of getting the GOTY edition if you owned it on Steam -- in order to take advantage of it, I needed to re-redeem the game in GoG Galaxy.
  8. Buying video games aren't an investment. Investments, by definition, are expected to gain value and provide a return. You already have a box under your TV that plays those games fine under your TV, why does spending $500 to have them play marginally better, while I assume, you are not buying new games for the box (because your PC plays them better) make sense? As someone who has a pretty significant library on both Sony/MS console ecosystems -- that is not something I would do. AS to the Xbox being more kid friendly -- how do I convince my kids of this? They keep wanting to use my gaming PC (and the family laptop) because Roblox/Minecraft play better with Mouse/keyboard (and wanting to chat with friends on Discord).
  9. The home theatre in my family room will be open. They must be including that if they are getting to 90%.
  10. Reviews were not allowed to talk about it. The Kotaku article I linked to earlier in this thread expressed some of the same frustrations in your post.
  11. At some point, it would be nice to see the "true" list of games that have been developed with PS5 (and not just backwards compatibility) that will be available this fall. My list so far: Full Games AC: Valhalla FIFA 21 Madden 21 "Smaller-Games" Spider-Man Miles Morales Am I missing anything that's already been announced? (FWIW, my interpretation is that Cyberpunk will be more-or-less the backwards compatible version this year.)
  12. Thanks for the recommendation. My personal highlights from the interview: This was awesome, as I am a huge fan of the X-Wing game -- my son and I play it quite a bit. Lots of other great stuff in there.
