  1. The reference design is 138mm, it should fit. If you buy an AIB one that is more than 147mm tall, Lian Li recommends a vertical kit. (Note -- you'll also be using 3 expansion slots on the back, so you may have to move any other cards.)
  2. What Witcher 3 really needs is higher resolution textures. That, and fixing how the wind interacts with foilage and hair (particularly when there is a storm outside, and Geralt is inside). Fixing the crash in the ultimate battle that could only be fixed by lowering resolution to 1080p would be nice too. That's not fair to Remedy -- I don't believe they can afford to. Remedy's total revenue (from all sources) in the first half of 2020 was ~$20M (17M Euro), CD Project Red's revenue from Witcher 3 ALONE was ~$65 million (~$250M Polish ZLN). CDPR is raking in huge revenue on a five year old game, so they can afford to reinvest (and I am sure will continue to sell as new people are exposed to the game after playing Cyberpunk or watching Witcher Season 2). Edit: Corrected my stupid "not" omission.
  3. The expectations I have seen online for some of these Rookie wide receivers is unbelievable. A reality check from SI.
  4. In times like this, where we are accumulating unprecedented levels of government debt -- emergency government should be targeted at people who need it. Not upper-middle-class families. If I were in power, I would certainly work with the best/brightest in the Ministry of Finance and Revenue Canada to create a targeted program. It's easy to say "people would lose their houses, and not be able to buy food" without this program. And while this is true in some cases, but clearly not in others -- IMHO, any program that provides 25% of its emergency support to households with 100k+ income is inefficient and misguided. BTW do you have a link to the 95% number? I've never seen that stat, and would love to see where you got it from.
  5. If you are a dependent or a spouse living in a household with a $100k+ income earner, is $2,000/month considered generous?
  6. CERB is overwhelmingly popular -- in fact, when a government decides to give money to people, it usually is overwhelmingly popular. Until it comes to actually pay for it. Yes, Morneau wanted to spend less. And from what I understand, there is a non-trivial portion of the Liberal caucus that agreed with him. The direct support to individuals and business was extremely generous, easy to get, and went on (and will go on) for a long time. It certainly went far beyond providing what was needed to simply keep people in their houses and buying food. David Dodge isn't a Conservative Party hack, and as an economist has been pretty supportive of deficit spending, if it is done the right way, for the right reasons. The concern right now, from him, and many other economists is that we are spending way too much, ignoring the economic reality, and putting too much of a debt burden on future generations. We are running a tremendous risk, that will only realize themselves when interest rates start to increase.
  7. 1) It is the right time to run a deficit. 2) The concern is whether the deficit is too high, and whether the money is being spent efficiently/effectively. 3) The best time to run a significant deficit is when we are out of the COVID-19 restrictions, and we can spend ourselves out of this depression.
  8. You're right, its hard to generalize. This board has a lot of "old farts", very few users (if any) in their teens or early twenties. A lot of us are stuck in our ways. The PS3 launch showed us just how sensitive gamers can be to prices.
  9. They needed to do something -- which is different than saying they had to do what they did. I believe history will show that much of the money they spend was spent inefficiently and/or wasted. Having your Finance Minister resign with no notice is a sign of this.
  10. I've been a "launch" console purchaser for several generations (I've purchased every Sony console on day 1 or before), and I'm not even considering getting one this time -- which blows my mind. True, but its a big part of the attraction.
  11. John Ivison: Free-spending Trudeau government floats into choppy seas without fiscal anchor The economic reality of running an $400B annual deficit is staggering. The reality is that giving "free money" to people is extremely popular, and the consequences are unlikely to be felt for at least a year. Combine that with the unfortunate decision of the Conservatives selecting a social-conservative for their leader, and it doesn't look good for fiscal responsibility going forward.
  12. True. However, if those $500+ prices are correct, the price/performance for console compared to buying a new gaming PC has never been worse.
  13. It also makes the ridiculous prices being rumoured for a 10 TFLOP console less credible.
  14. The 3080 looks like incredible price/performance. NVIDIA Announces the GeForce RTX 30 Series: Ampere For Gaming, Starting With RTX 3080 & RTX 3090 30 TFLOPs for $700? I was not expecting this.
