Now that the Covid computer component prices are starting to abate, I'm looking at doing a new PC build. My old 6700k/GTX-1070 will continue to do double duty with the kids. I've put together this computer build as my first "draft" -- planning on pulling the trigger over the next 3 months. PCPartPicker Part List: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/PdfcLs CPU: Intel Core i5-13600KF 3.5 GHz 14-Core Processor ($379.99 @ Memory Express) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition 57.3 CFM CPU Cooler ($89.88 @ Amazon Canada) Motherboard: Asus TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS WIFI ATX LGA1700 Motherboard ($341.48 @ iSanek) Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-5600 CL36 Memory ($214.99 @ Amazon Canada) Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive ($399.99 @ Newegg Canada) Video Card: Gigabyte EAGLE GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12 GB Video Card ($1119.00 @ Canada Computers) Case: HYTE Y60 ATX Mid Tower Case ($306.99 @ PC-Canada) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 1300 G+ 1300 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($268.98 @ Amazon Canada) Monitor: Alienware AW3423DW 34.2" 3440 x 1440 175 Hz Curved Monitor ($1649.99 @ Dell) Total: $4771.29 Hoping to get the D1P braintrust to give me advice. Specific questions: I've been oscillating between the i7-13700KF and i5-13500KF -- This is mostly going to be a gaming rig -- does the 13700 get me any real world benefits? The 790 chipset MB's aren't readily available ATM, do I really lose anything vs. the 790? Last time I bought a ASUS ROG Hero MB, but the prices have increased dramatically over the last few years. Does this ASUS TUF MB make sense, or should I switch to another brand? The Samsung 990 Pro is ~$140 more than a 980 Pro -- am I really gonna see much benefit for the huge price increase? Most cases I was looking at were out of stock everywhere. I don't think I need to spend C$300 on a case, any other suggestions on a good case?

PC 4080s are Overpriced and not selling
AbsolutSurgen replied to AbsolutSurgen's topic in The Spawn Point
My local Canada Computers has tons of 4070Ti/4080/4090 in stock (and a couple of 7900 XTs). Given how they don't seem to be moving, I think I am going to wait another few months for the price to drop before doing my build. -

NFL Week 17 - 2 More Weeks of This Crap?
AbsolutSurgen replied to Keyser_Soze's topic in The Locker Room
The Raiders have done Carr dirty -- treating him like they are on the way out is shitty. I don't necessarily with the disagree with trying to find a better/different QB -- telling him to go home with 2 games left, without saying goodbye to his teammates or fans is low. From the Athletic: "Since drafting Carr in 2014, the #Raiders rank 19th in expected points added (EPA) on offense while ranking 32nd in combined EPA on defense and special teams." Carr isn't an elite QB, but he has been the best part of the Raiders for the last 10 years.- 64 replies

Biology is complex, and taxonomy is inexact. While, there are exceptions, biologists have used reproductive barriers (i.e. the inability to produce fertile offspring) as one of the key determiners whether something is a different species. That's not to say that this is the ONLY way they classify species. It was also how I learned of the concept in my Biology classes (long ago), and since I started to doubt my memory, is still in virtually every definition I can now find (whether it be from National Geographic, Merriam Webster or Wikipedia).

Superman - I would love a return to a movie that reflects him as the ‘90s era comic books rather than the dark broody one from recent movies Batman - I would love something that focuses more on the “world’s greatest detective”. Green Lantern JLA - showing the larger group and less better known characters.

There are so many laptops in my house, that I’m pretty comfortable having my gaming computer being pretty much devoted to games and streaming video. -
What was the most comfortable bed you ever had?
AbsolutSurgen replied to Remarkableriots's topic in The Shower
The air bed I had in the ICU. Completely adjustable, plus it automatically adjusts to reduce pressure points. -

Probably more like $1,225-$1,300 for the XT and $1,360-$1,450 for the XTX. -

PC 4080s are Overpriced and not selling
AbsolutSurgen replied to AbsolutSurgen's topic in The Spawn Point
I mean, in Canada you can still find 4090s for ~$150 above the Nvidia 4090 FE MSRP. (My local Canada Computers claims to have 10+ Gigabyte 4090 cards at C$2,249 in stock [MSRP of $2,099]). -

You missed my edit. Lower than MSRP ones are available in Canada. -

Newegg Canada and Best Buy Canada both still have numerous cards in the C$1,750 - $1,850 range in stock (MSRP on FE is $1,650). With crypto currency mining being gone, and the Covid insanity being mostly behind us, I've mentally moved on from that. Edit: Canada computers has TONS in stock, as low as $1,629 -- or lower than MSRP on FE. -
Species -- In general, the most basic level of taxonomic rank, where offspring are generally either not possible or infertile. Race -- an informal term used by scientists for subspecies, where offspring are generally fertile I had thought in D&D lore, race was used because most of the races could interbreed to create fertile offspring, and more importantly, Tolkien used the word (and D&D was largely based on Tolkien). That, and race isn't an offensive term.

The only reason I haven't pulled a trigger on a new computer is the ridiculous price of the 4080s.

Patriots fans are still claiming the Keenan Cole TD should have been ruled out of bounds. Photos from the sideline press, clearly show his foot was inbounds- 41 replies
