I think we've hit on it. Sony won't sign the contract, because they know if MS buys CoD, they WILL kill it. And once CoD is dead -- that will cut into their 30% store listing fees.

If MS gets it, they'll decide it's better it not be an annual franchise, and instead release a new one every 5 years. And that will be an open-world military strategy shooter.

You will notice a significant difference vs. playing games off a HDD. Its only $160 -- you're buying for today, not for tomorrow. In 4 years you can buy another faster one -- games aren't getting smaller.

I don't jump between story based games either. I finished up Control, and decided that I didn't want to continue playing the DLC. Started playing Marvel Midnight Suns during the free weekend, and despite a VERY slow start, I'm enjoying the combat a lot. IMHO, Developers are not doing themselves a bunch of favours by requiring players to spend 5 hours of mediocre gametime before opening up the "good stuff" -- had this issue with both Control and MMS.
