These days, PBS Kids. If I am working, I prefer silence, but I do like some background noise when I'm cleaning. That usually ends up being music or an audio book, I'm currently going through Caesar's Last Breath. If it's going to be TV, maybe sometimes something like How it's Made since it's not really distracting.

This is why boosters for anyone that wants it. I'd rather everyone I know get boosters than just see this stuff be incinerated. My city had to resort to door to door vaccinations last month and we're still only 60% vaccinated. That's with multiple clinics, pharmacies, stores, a mobile clinic that services different neighborhoods everyday, and a fucking food truck that goes door to door trying to jab folks with that sweet mRNA.

Well worth the watch, even if a lot of this is stuff you already knew... Getting 100 customized headsets for a giveaway is a wildly tempting offer from a company. Even if you don't think they're all that great, subscribers to the channel would probably love the freebie, and it increases engagement on the videos themselves. I can easily see how a marketing department would consider that a win win.

We, as a nation, don't really do that thing called learning. We're so wrapped up in the idea of American exceptionalism that we simply refuse to believe that the folks threatening violence will actually act upon it because there are just too many of them or because they hold government offices or because of whatever excuse we can come up with that day. Even when they get violent, half this country will just pretend it never happened and the press will treat it like a matter of opinion. At some point, we need to just start believing people. I'd say a terrorist attack would do the trick, but we've had dozens over there last decade and it hasn't even sort of moved the needle. I'm sure the increase in violent rhetoric is just for show, though. Nothing bad would actually happen, right? It's just political theater. This is America. Racial, right-wing violence hasn't ever been a problem in this country.

If we can be friends with the Saudis, why not a Taliban-led Afghanistan.

Those funds were never going out. The hoops people have to jump through are ridiculous. Even when someone meets the wage requirements, they still may not be approved any support. I know people that have forgone food to make rent and Internet so their kids can still attend online classes. Those people don't qualify because they aren't behind in rent. Even if they were, they'd need their landlord to approve getting this money because we've decided to not trust people to pay for their own rent.

As long as we don't deal with variations that are too close to one another, it shouldn't really matter. Like, if movie Loki dies, it's not just a continuation of the character if he's replaced with Sylvie. If not, then it wouldn't be a big deal when Peter Parker dies and is replaced by Miles. I'd completely agree if we start dealing with the Dr Strange that started his day with latte vs the other Dr Strange that went for an Americano.

Netflix has metrics they use to determine if a series or movie is driving new subscribers and/or keeping old subscribers. They, along with every other streaming service know who's watching, when they're watching, how they're watching, which scenes are worth rewatching, and even when viewers are checking out and moving on to something else. Unfortunately, it's been mostly a black box, so we don't really know which metrics will cause a service is willing to shell out this much for a movie or cancel a series that everyone right was pretty great. At Disney's current place with Disney+, I'm sure their number one metric is subscription drivers. That's easy to figure out. What are new subscribers jumping to first.

ISIS really wants dumb Americans to champion for a continued war against the Taliban. This is an easy win-win for them.

It's been a while since this all was going around, but that first one is splitting hairs. Where is the line between "I've never been raped because I dress modestly" and "She was raped because she dressed too revealingly"? In my eyes, that line doesn't really exist, especially as a response to the whole Me Too movement.
-
Bialik is getting shit for shitting on women assaulted during the peak of the Me Too movement...and being an anti-vaxxer. Didn't she blame women being raped for not being modest enough? A shame shitty people aren't succeeding where not shitty people could be. Compared to Bialik, Ken Jennings controversy is the dumbest thing ever. Like, it doesn't take a lot to not be a terrible person.
