  1. What if even with the support the GPU put some stress on the slot or that area of the motherboard but didn't completely break it? That's why I suggested trying the other GPU slot. You could also take a close look at capacitors on the motherboard to see if any look abnormal. Just to be clear, when booting from the Windows USB drive, you can't even get to the first menu? A Linux Live USB might be worth a try, making sure to use the verbose start up that lists what it's doing in the hopes that you'll see where it gets stuck.
  2. You can make a bootable USB drive for memtest86, it should be more lightweight than a Linux Live USB so it should be the simplest test of can something other than the BIOS successfully run.
  3. Try something simple like memtest86 just to see if it can boot and run for a while. If you can, try onboard video or a secondary GPU slot. You could also watch the bios hardware monitor for an extended period to see if anything weird happens with temperatures or voltage.

  6. Apparently there is a fan translation of X but an official offline port would be nice. I put over 800 hours into DQIX. For almost a year I'd switch my router from WPA to WEP temporarily each morning to check the online store and would play dungeons at lunch and before bed and I didn't even 100% it. VI and XI were my favorites and while I liked every game, they tend to be a bit of a slow and I've only replayed the first one.

  10. I've hated kobolds ever since I made the mistake of making my first main character in Baldur's Gate (base game only) a Cleric/Mage. The character was fragile but the problem with the kobolds was that they gave something pathetic like 7 exp so I couldn't level up to make up for my character's pathetic HP (and since I put my points in INT and WIS my constitution sucked so I only got a couple HP more on finally leveling up). A few years later when I played Tales of the Sword Coast, I used cheats to get stat boosting tomes to make all stats 25 and so I could reuse my character but I've avoided multiclass ever since and still hate kobolds.

  12. I prefer more streamlined games where the story progresses steadily but when I play games with tons of sides stuff to do I end up doing it. In Final Fantasy XV, Steam says I've played over 48 hours but I'm only on chapter 3.
  13. The post game might as well be another game but at least the story continues and it affects the characters rather than just being a bunch of chores. If I remember right, you ending up having to make 3 passes through the world between the initial story and post game. My Steam playtime was 241.4 hours, I think the in game time was more like 225 hours though with that many hours there was probably a fair bit of meal and bathroom break time while the game was still running. If a game is going to have a ton of post game content, DQ XI's way of doing it is the way to go but it's still a bit weird since if you were to stop playing after the initial ending you'd be missing half the game.

  16. No. I'm too old to keep redoing the same thing until I get it perfect.
  17. That's what I was talking about, so I understand. Took me at least 4x the average drop rate, had to keep track myself when the slay count maxed out. I was so glad the remaster didn't have that.
  18. I do loops between 2 bridges on a paved path (the whole route is on Google maps) along a canal. Last summer 3 laps was less than 10k but this summer 4 laps is around 14k so the same distance was less than 3.3k last year but about 3.5k this year. Also, Google thinks I run across the water multiple times rather than using the bridges and occasionally go way off course.
  19. Played a bit of Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition and then started Final Fantasy XV.
  20. Finished Phoenotopia: Awakening. I started on normal difficulty since while things like the stamina system were annoying it still seemed manageable but eventually I got fed up and activated a bunch of things to make the game easier. There were a few optional things left to do but I can't be bothered.
  21. You either need to beat him in 1 round so that your party doesn't get wiped by Immaculate End out or use auto-revive items so that you can survive the attack and have longer to beat him. I went with the single round strategy. You'll need to practice to learn how to avoid his attacks. Once you're good at that the next hard part is making sure you can prepare properly for the stagger and then execute the right sequence of attacks to take him out before the stagger ends. If you fail to take him out before the stagger ends you might be ok like I was, if he doesn't have much HP left and you're able to spam magic to finish him off before he wipes you out. I think I finished him with the last of my MP. I'm pretty sure this is what I used: GUIDE: HOW TO BEAT WEISS EASILY IN 10 STEPS - FF7 REMAKE - Wow pro WWW.WOW-PRO.COM Welcome to my 10-step strategy guide to to defeat Weiss easily in PS5 FF7 Remake Intergrade. 22. The DS version was definitely harder after having played the GBA version a few years before. Even when I played the hard type version of the original I didn't really find it noticeably harder so the DS version was striking. But my bad memory of the DS version is fighting yellow flans or something like that for a 1/256 drop. I think I had killed well over a thousand of them before finally getting the drop. I was quite pleased that the Pixel Remaster didn't have that particular drop, though it did have some other rare drops.
  23. Oh right, it was the Hippaul Racing that I used the macro to record alternating button presses so I could hold a button down to autofire it, for jump rope I think I just set it so that holding the button down continuously registered clicks (I played the game with controller but for jump rope it doesn't care about the timing if you use a mouse). StealingAlwaysWorks would have been useful. There was 1 boss with a time limit that I wasn't able to get the rare steal but for the rest I turned on auto-heal and sped up the game with the boosters the Steam version has and just waited until it succeeded.
  24. Good to know if I ever replay it again. I had to set up a macro for my mouse and even then I think it took multiple tries to get it to work properly.
  25. Doesn't do best any good, but it's on Disney+ (also on Crave Starz and the Starz channel on Prime) in Canada.
