  1. I really do enjoy exploring and taking screenshots in this game! In spoiler tags, since there's so many. Probably some repeats and some shitty ones since I uploaded the entire folder.
  2. People were talking about the PS5 UI like it was some mega overhaul and laughed about how the Xbox one was the "same" (which is a very recent overhaul on the previous Xbox that just got brought over) but in reality the PS5 UI is just a reskinned PS4 UI, which was already hot trash, except they made a bunch of features harder to access (like the power menu) or gone outright. Fucking piece of shit can't even tell you if you're gonna download a PS4 or PS5 version of a game. You can turn off spoiler videos for PS5 games, but not PS4, so on the insanely long JRPG series I'm playing I went down 1 option too far which auto-loaded videos where the thumbnails were spoilers, because fuck sensible design. Sony can eat my ass. Anyone who defends this terrible UI can get bent. All this other shit aside, who the hell thinks a fucking linear path of games in a straight line is the most efficient way to present you your games and apps?! USE A GRID MOTHERFUCKER.
  3. If you're on the hardest difficulty, most (or at least a lot) of her attacks will one-shot kill you unless I guess you level up a bunch or get some gear, I can't remember exactly. But in my case, most mistakes were fatal. Except it wasn't just mistakes. Check out the timestamp in the video. There's bullshit hitboxes (in slow motion for your viewing pleasure) where you'll be 10 feet away and almost done with your roll and then she teleports you back into a grab. Then several of her moves have telegraphs that are entirely inconsistent, which you can also see in the video. The dodge left means she'll do a wing attack, while the dodge right means she'll do a turbo punch... except when it randomly switches, or sometimes she'll do it out of nowhere with 0 telegraph. It was such fucking bullshit, made all the worse because it was so long with no checkpoints. You can only lose to a teleport-grab so many times before you just say fuck it.
  4. I had the opposite experience with the new Resident Evil formula. Thought the characters controlled very well and very much enjoyed the last fight on Hardcore, but I get how it definitely wouldn't be for everyone. Hardcore especially demands a lot. Yup. Was playing God of War on the hardest difficulty. Loved every other part and fight of this game, but the final Valkyrie fight was pure dog shit, partially because... You got it, they cheat! And I don't mean that as an excuse, they actually fucking cheat. (Skip to 2:40:16 if it doesn't link properly.) The Valkyries aren't the only enemies that cheat, but the final Valkyrie is where the cheating absolutely hurts most and ruins the fun completely.
  5. Evolve was fucking incredible. It remains one of the only multiplayer games to ever give me what I'd describe as actual white knuckle matches. Still a damn shame that it was tutorialized terribly to the point where it basically taught you nothing and then was immediately bombarded from orbit with a thousand different expensive DLCs and multiple season passes. These days that kind of shit wouldn't even have people blink an eye because we live in a hellscape dystopia, but back then it was a death sentence. In terms of actual gameplay, there was no mess about it. It was absolutely rock solid and played excellently. Especially as a monster. Of course, since the game did a poor job teaching you how to play well, the monsters all sucked ass and thought the Hunters were OP while the Hunters all sucked ass and thought the monsters were OP. I'd say the clusterfuck wrought in that game was much more due to presentation than any actual issue with the game itself.
  6. I... what? I've got quite a few hours in this game and I wouldn't say that I spent a large amount of time climbing at all. It actually seems quite a bit less vertical than recent Ubisoft games in my experience. I mean, you can climb to scale areas, but usually there's a quick path around or one of those rope-wheel shortcut things, which now I'm realizing I can't recall the name of.
  7. It was actually pretty fun in Black Flag, because the parkour was simpler/faster, I guess, in that game, at least for something like this. The current parkour system isn't really for quickly getting around a city, it's for more methodically exploring the world, or maybe it's just not quite as nimble. In any case, if you really want to just get these done, you can just watch where the paper goes and wait for it to reset, then beeline to that spot on your second activation. To remember the exact spot, you can just track the paper with your bird and mark where it stops. You can also catch it any time along its path if you cut it off. Pretty sure there's a trick to pick them up without chasing them too, but I don't know it off the top of my head.
  8. Very large patch coming today! So stop doing them! Good lord people, stop forcing yourself to do content you don't like! A trophy isn't a real thing! It doesn't matter! Having fun in a video game matters a lot more than "beating" it!
  9. The exploration remains EXTREMELY rewarding, at least for how I personally like to play open world games. Right now I'm just literally randomly roaming the world, doing any jobs I come across if they happen to pop up. Finished one, and noticed this building across the street. Then noticed the graffiti. So I do what I always do: climbed all over them shipping containers. Found this: And on this guy was a conversation explaining why he spelled it the way he did: Bonus points: Looks like there might be a line break bug in the chat log. Classic! Joking aside, I find this shit SO much more fun than following the mainline story in any open-world game. Every area I've been in is so packed with unique stuff and continues to impress with how different it looks from every other area!
  10. Also, just want to say that I really loved Johnny's introduction. Cool setup, cool mission, badass fucking hand cannon that felt great to use and dealt insane headshot damage, and just a cool concept once he's in the game after that. From the way I heard Jeff Gerstmann talking about the story I was expecting some basic bitch narrative hook but it's already really cool and interesting. We playing different games or something?
  11. XPG SX8200 Pro 2TB nVME. It wasn't jarring before, but I'd definitely notice little stutters here or there, mostly when driving or moving very quickly. Now I don't, or at least so far, haven't seen those. And I went out of my way to drive around the city on a few different saves to see. Would be nice if I could get rid of the pop-in while driving, though. Weirdly enough only a few objects have obvious pop-in, but in some areas the road itself has pop-in (like, the ground in front of you) and that is really distracting.
  12. I also have a 3900x and noticed an immediate improvement. FPS itself seemed pretty similar, but frame timings felt much better and things like driving at full speed resulted in dramatically fewer tiny streaming hiccups, if any. I didn't notice any after the patch.
