  1. I hope this is more than Octopath, which was just an art style I was never very impressed with and basically nothing else.
  2. Damn, not much there I cared about. I think Skyward Sword is a pretty lame Zelda, and I try Mario Golf every time a new one comes out but always find them boring. Was really hoping for some more exciting announcements.
  3. I dislike references in general for the most part, so no.
  4. A valid comparison if each episode took several years to release!
  5. When the only point of comparison is RE5 and RE6, that's very telling. I dunno about 5, but the Revelations games were certainly better than the... whatever 6 was. Compared to 7? 2 remake? Even 3 remake? They don't even hold the tiniest candle. However, given that they were able to turn the series around completely going from 6 to 7... if they can do the same for Revelations, count me in. I still worry about any sort of Switch exclusivity holding the game back, though. Revelations looked okay on a 3DS screen, it was significantly less impressive on anything else. And I've had a thousand lifetimes' worth of "it looks really good... for the Switch!" reviews by now.
  6. Switch timed exclusive? Capcom really needs to stop with that shit. It just brings otherwise good games down a peg or two for no real reason. I know some people liked Revelations, but that shit played like ass to me. It was like a dollar store version of Resident Evil.
  7. Halo 2 was designed to be a blueball experience from the outset. That's just a cliffhanger ending. FF7R is just a small slice of a much larger story that's already been told. It'd be like if they remade the Lord of the Rings trilogy except the first movie was them taking the first 45 minutes of the original first movie and making that into its own feature-length movie. It's not just that it's a multi-part story, or a cliffhanger (in fact they had to shoehorn a cliffhanger into FF7R because they part they end on, while they tried to make it as ridiculously dramatic as possible, is still kind of a wet fart from a plot standpoint) but rather that they've taken something we've already experienced and they...
  8. Yeah, people continually talked about how this argument doesn't work because it's a "full-length game," but a full-length game and a complete story, ESPECIALLY for an RPG, and ESPECIALLY for that's already been told, are very, very different things. FF7R barely covers the very beginning of the story. The fact that they stretched it out into 30-40 hours doesn't change that.
  9. Nintendo has historically had very reliable and durable hardware. I have not been impressed with their stuff in the past several years though. I went through many 3DS units because the screen breaks super easy and is highly vulnerable to even mild moisture. And the joy con issue alone has tanked my opinion of Nintendo completely. They're fucking miserable drifting piles of shit, every single one I've owned has severe drift issues so bad my wife who only plays Animal Crossing and my 6 year old daughter both refuse to use them because they make games annoying and near unplayable. Meanwhile Nintendo denies there's even a problem. Fuck them, they can suck my ass. Meanwhile my old ass Galaxy S5 was waterproof, and was dropped, without a case, on concrete, near DAILY due to me being completely haphazard with it, and it never cracked or got even slight water damage. My daughter uses it now and it's still kicking just fine. Meanwhile I have to baby my 3DS like it's made out of porcelain, and my Switch is even less portable than the chunky bitch normally is because I need a pro pad with it at all times. Nintendo's online being fine because you barely use it and use third party tools is like saying your city's public transportation is fine because you drive everywhere.
  10. Playing copyrighted music so that when I choke a guy to death with my knee on camera the guy who uploads it won't be able to monetize his video! True heroes.
  11. Hey if they can fix up the store to actually compete on more than just "lol we paid for games to not be elsewhere" then I'll be a lot happier to use the client. Still not excited about my fragmented fucking library but whatever, that huge benefit that I love has been fraying for years anyway. I expect nothing from them, because history shows they don't give a shit, but maybe we'll get lucky. The free games have been nice, but haven't got me to buy shit. Make a better store already, because it's not just a store, it's a launcher. I do really wonder what their plan is in the event that Fortnite starts to seriously get its lunch eaten by another game. They haven't really built up a foundation that would remain sustainable in the event that they're no longer making no-fucks-to-give money. Their primary attractions: Time-limited exclusives that they pay millions of dollars for, and free games, would likely dry up completely if they had to tighten their belts. Would be a really good time for them to have a really attractive client, both visually and functionally. And services no one else offers.
  12. All this free game shit would've won me over a whole lot better in the 20+ years I was broke as hell and could barely ever afford to buy a game. I mean, I'm still mostly broke but I can generally get a game when I want, so like 2/3rds or more of my EGS library is stuff I've already played. Now if they had given me the entire KH collection for free... Actually, I bet they'd make a lot more KH sales if they gave one of the collections away for free, since there's 4 different fairly high-priced purchases going up at once. Hook 'em with one on the house.
  13. I guess that might be true, I have yet to try another launcher because that just sounds like a whole 'nother level of headaches. But maybe I will if I get the free time this weekend. I just hate the thought of getting yet another program to fix a problem that only exists so other people can make more money while passing 0 of those savings on to me, all while diminishing the features I do get to enjoy.
  14. I see you didn't really read what I typed, since "launching EGS (and most other launcher) games through Steam is janky AF" was one of my problems. And I'm not getting some dumbass secondary program like DS4Windows because EGS needs exclusives. I just don't care that much. I'm more than happy to wait for a Steam version. I do collect my free games, because why not? If they want to throw free shit at me, I'm not gonna complain. But that's not gonna get me to buy their 8 Kingdom Hearts collections for full price, either. These are the reasons I personally care, if they don't bother you, that's cool. I just don't see any reason to throw myself at inferior experiences to play games like Kingdom Hearts years after launch so I can get them a little earlier than on a platform I actually enjoy. I have a hard enough time convincing myself to actually choose a game most of the time without a little mountain of headaches to throw into the mix.
  15. For this game in particular? I imagine it'd depend largely on the individual as to what features would matter most to them, but for me... 1. No Steam overlay, which I use a ton 2. No Steam overlay means, for example, I can't use my PS5 controller natively like I do with Steam, which I've been using as my main controller mainly because my poor Xbox pads all seem to be suffering from some A button problems that the PS5 does not. My main input method not working is not a minor concern to me. 3. Most EGS titles lack achievements, I don't personally care too much about achievements, but I don't get a discount for missing features, so... 4. Still unsure of EGS cloud saves at this point, I'll assume they'll have them, but who knows. 5. No Steam forums for the inevitable tech troubles that come with every Square Enix release. Off to Reddit I go to get downvoted for daring to have a technical issue... 6. It's not sitting in my Steam library, which I always have open. It's in my janky ass EGS library, full of a bunch of free games I've already beaten on other platforms, and I can sort them by "recent" or "alphabetical." Wow. I can filter for "all" or "installed." Both the list and tile views are inferior and show less information. I've talked before about the nature of libraries, and how Steam consolidating my library is very handy, because I don't have every launcher open, so I'll forget about games on lesser used platforms, which sucks because I often have many older games that I want to play but forget about, because at 1,500+ games, that happens sometimes. And adding a non-Steam game is okayish (but not great) when it works, but these days it often doesn't. 7. Every time I open the piece of shit it pops up 3-4 little windows in the corner of my screen. One of them fades on its own, and when it does, the others move in to where it was. The ones that don't fade have tiny little Xs, if you click anywhere but the X, it's like a fucking porn ad where it loads the store page. Fucking trash. 8. Uses an empty friend list instead of my real friend list on Steam, where I can just activate the overlay and chat with friends, which I do often because I like using social features. Guess I'll have to hope the Discord overlay works and go that route to replace native functionality on a different store. I'm sure there's more, but the whole fucking thing is just inconvenient to me. From the second I load it up, through the process of buying games one-at-a-time because carts aren't a thing that stores have had for literally decades on the internet, to getting into the game and no longer having native, built-in support via things like the news tab and discussions tabs that are often extremely useful for getting information, be it related to major or minor tech support, about a beta branch patch (does EGS even have beta branches?) or just quick help if you're stuck on something. I dunno about you guys, but I use the shit out of the Steam forums for these kinds of things because they're right there. Hell, you Google a tech issue with a game and there's a 95% chance you'll get a Steam forum result. And in return for this pile of headaches? Fucking nothing. I get NOTHING. Forget what features are missing that I care about, what features does this shit ass store provide that I can't get elsewhere? I'm the one paying for the goddamn game, entice ME. I guess if you get really silly, you can say the store provides the game, but paying out millions of dollars so you can't play it on a better storefront isn't a feature, it's an indictment.
  16. That's true, actually. Just like when something is exclusive to a console, you either wait for a version you like or play an inferior shitty version with features missing!
  17. My greater point is Nomura never brings the context, he only sets up that you always need more.
  18. Ol' Tetsuya "Lacking A Lot Of Context" Nomura
  19. Why would it be on a list of handhelds? I can fit handhelds in my pocket. It's a tablet.
  20. Oh I'm no FF7 purist, I just think Nomura is one of the greatest masters to ever exist at stripping all stakes from a story. But you might like it! Some people who never played the original did. But for me, different is usually good, however Nomura's idea of different always comes across like a 12 year old's fanfic retcon where they just make up whatever to get the results they prefer.
