  1. There’s something really funny about the prospect of just being evil as hell and having the game treat you as a YA protagonist. I want to see a pumped up kicks music video to the protagonist just abra kadabraing the hell out of fellow students who like, bullied someone on the quidditch course or something. Commit a few war crimes on the way to herbology.
  2. I’m looking forward to the launch drama. This is a hugely ambitious game with high expectations from a relatively unproven dev. Just that means that there’s a huge range to the potential quality of the game. Combine that with the various controversies, which I’m sure some reviewers will take into account, makes the whole thing a guaranteed shitshow.
  3. Right, I had just always thought of the antisemitism in Harry Potter as the vague stereotypical stuff that is pretty endemic to the fantasy genre where different races tend to be stand ins for real world cultures, ethnicities, and religions. I'm definitely being too charitable with my phrasing here, but I won't spend too much time finding the right way to put it since I'm about to get less charitable. The blood libel is a lot more specific, obscure, and harmful. It's been used to justify murdering Jews for thousands of years, and the inclusion of anything remotely resembling it in something that is already clearly engaging in antisemetic tropes is hard to interpret as anything other than deliberate hate.
  4. "The main scheme of the primary antagonist is to kidnap the player character, and harvest their blood for a spell that will wipe out his enemies while aligned with a number of dark wizards. While the narrative is somewhat problematic..." I knew JK was off her rocker and the devs of the game weren't far behind, but I didn't know the game was literally incorporating the blood libel into the primary conflict.
  5. You guys just don't remember the part in the movie where they told John Diehard that his game was gonna be no good and then at the end of the movie it totally was.
  6. I was also disappointed by this.
  7. I think some people are butting up against the fact that adapting from one visual medium to another is never going to be as transformative as book adaptations.
  8. I like that we're still capable of beefing over LOST.
  9. I assure you if I owned any playstations I would've played these games. At least part 1 is coming to PC relatively soon.
  10. Yeah, I mean I wouldn’t play any of these alone. You need a few friends to provide the fun and character since the cast usually doesn’t.
  11. Got around to playing this one and enjoyed it. I wouldn’t play these games alone but they’re always a good time with friends. Compared to the other ones it was significantly scarier but also had a less interesting cast, although I liked Jesse Buckley’s performance . Overall I think it was better than Man of Medan and Little Hope but not as strong as House of Ashes, Until Dawn, or The Quarry.
  12. Some were good, some were comedically bad, all were entertaining. The one with Ron Weasley and the rat had me in stitches. The painting one was also hilarious, particularly that they showed the time jump by just giving all the younger characters mustaches. The autopsy was fantastic.
  13. DOOMs Tetris MGSV Celeste Dishonored Hotline Miami Risk of Rain 2 TF2
  14. The problem is this can't be fixed by changing how certain things are worded, it's built into the core of the fantasy genre and I've encountered very few properties that navigate these issues perfectly.
