  1. I've only been marginally informed about this situation, but from what I've read, it's pretty damned bad.
  2. Oh God - four RDJs in one scene and each one representing the worst aspects of American institutions: the military/intelligence complex, academia, politics, and entertainment
  3. It's now over 1,000,000 units sold. Manor Lords breaks a Steam city-builder and strategy game record, beating Civilization 6 and Cities: Skylines as it sells 1 million copies just one day after release | GamesRadar+ WWW.GAMESRADAR.COM The indie hit is off to a flying start
  4. The text article for the video that @Keyser_Soze posted. Dragon's Dogma 2 has a hidden path-traced renderer - and modders have found it WWW.EUROGAMER.NET DF investigates a surprising new mod for Dragon's Dogma 2 that upgrades the RT global illumination in the PC version to full path tracing.
  5. I'm marginally interested in it, but I want to put some more time into No Rest for the Wicked first. All I know is that ItalianSpartacus and PC Gamer are milking the hell out of it for content I mean, look at this: Manor Lords Coverage | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM The latest Manor Lords breaking news, comment, reviews and features from the experts at PC Gamer
  6. If we're gonna call MGS an RPG, we might as well call DOOM an RPG as we take on the role of the "DOOM Guy".
  7. The line between what constitutes an RPG and what's not an RPG has become so blurred that it's probably no longer a meaningful distinction. For example, I have a hard time seeing the nu-God of War games as anything other tham RPGs, so Kartos might as well be in the discussion.
  8. There is some serious "recency bias" in this list. My personal pick is the protagonist of Planescape: Torment known only as "The Nameless One".
  9. The introduction of Indiana Jones in the opening of Raiders of the Lost Ark is the perfect introduction that tells you everything you need to know about the character using visual storytelling cues.
  10. Call of Duty and Diablo boost Microsoft's gaming revenues, but Xbox sales continue to fall WWW.GAMESINDUSTRY.BIZ Microsoft has released its latest financial results, showing significant growth in gaming revenues — thanks in no small… However, if the ABK acquisition is excluded from the quarterly data, the picture becomes a lot starker. As per Daniel Ahmad:
  11. As I mentioned in another thread, this is completely in line with the technofeudalist ideology: Welcome to the Age of Technofeudalism | WIRED WWW.WIRED.COM In Yanis Varoufakis’ latest book, the former Greek finance minister argues that companies like Apple and Meta have treated their users like modern-day serfs.
  12. You're absolutely correct that he's anti-capitalist, because he's something far worse: a technofeudalist. Technofeudalism by Yanis Varoufakis: 9781685891244 | PenguinRandomHouse.com: Books WWW.PENGUINRANDOMHOUSE.COM “Blending intellectual memoir, history, and economic and technological history, Varoufakis creates an intimate atmosphere that is a genuine pleasure to read ... It’s hard...
  13. Ah-ha! I've long held that notion at an intuitive level, but I'm pleased to see actual empirical evidence to support it! And if I was forced to draft in the first round, I sure as hell wouldn't take a QB.
  14. Zuckerburg literally began yesterday's 1Q earnings call by explaining to analysts all the ways the company intends to keep investing in these cash-hemmorhaging initiatives. Meta loses $200 billion in value as Zuckerberg focuses earnings call on all the ways company bleeds cash WWW.CNBC.COM Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg spooked investors on the company's quarterly earnings call Wednesday.
  15. From what I've been able to see, your imagination would be quite correct! Let's face it - a very "uncharitable" reading of US support for Ukraine could be that we want to "extend" the conflict as much as possible for that very reason.
  16. That paradigm really doesn't have a significant number of advocates to begin with, but what it has done is force a reconsideration of how drones, etc. are used in the battlespace. The briefing I attended on the effects of the Russian EW efforts was really quite eye-opening.
