General Gaming Gamers Are Not Playing New Games...
Commissar SFLUFAN replied to skillzdadirecta's topic in The Spawn Point
You're absolutely correct. I just don't think that Baldur Gate III not cracking the Top 10 for MAUs negates its status as a "water cooler conversation" game at all when #bearsex was trending on social media for days on end. -
I'd say that's probably the case as The Rising Tide completes the DLC that was promised as part of the expansion pass.

Everything else about their discussion was fine, but that one exchange just stuck out to me as just not reflecting reality. -
General Gaming Gamers Are Not Playing New Games...

The podcast hosts claim that there were no "water cooler conversation" games released in 2023 and that the last game to do so was Elden Ring in 2022. This is a really odd claim to make for a year in which Baldur's Gate III released and permeated the overall cultural zeitgeist in a way that Elden Ring never even came remotely close to cracking. -
Man, if there's one thing this show isn't the least bit subtle about, it's the completely justified, totally in-your-face anti-colonialist message. "How Rudyard Kipling of you." "I do not know this Kipling. A Terran?" "Yes. One possessed of many burdens. None real." Is Disney even aware that their 90's throwback Marvel superhero cartoon is perhaps one of the most overtly political shows on television right now?!?! (No one tell them, please!)

In some "positive" news... Russia's meat grinder soldiers - 50,000 confirmed dead WWW.BBC.COM In the second 12 months on the front line the body count was nearly 25% higher than in the first year. The loss of so many young men definitely won't exacerbate Russia's deteriorating demographic situation. Nope, not at all!
