CitizenVectron
$100 million to provide coverage for the 600,000 residents without coverage in the city. Unknown how it will be managed.
Bloodporne
Is this the pat on the head right before they announce that Amazon will usurp all of Long Island City and completely destroy even more barely-affordable housing we don't have in a several mile radius? TwinIon
It seems very odd that this would be a city measure and not a state thing.

I know I'm bullshitting mostly... but between this and the free college thing, they will be attracting a lot more young people to the city than they already do... they just need to figure out the affordable housing thing. elbobo
$100,000,000 for 600,000 people; that is $167 per person, what the hell kind of insurance can you get for that price?

elbobo
even it is covering 50% for a large portion of that 600,000 and all for a little bit that is still a VERY low amount to be paying for a plan. That would be a great monthly rate let alone for the whole year.
Joe
Also since our boy @Kal-El814 loves to bitch (ilu) about how we talk about NYC too much, it's important to recognize that NYC has more uninsured residents than Wyoming has residents overall lol. That's absurd.

Actually I'd be surprised if total health costs exceed $167/year per person (in all age ranges) when averaged out. The vast majority of people have no health expenses in any given year. That's why you can pay $1,000 a year for car insurance but get paid out $800,000 if you injure someone for life.
Mercury33
I’m kind of surprised only 600,000 don’t have insurance out of the what 9 million people that live in NYC?
