Macron is blaming it on "social media" and "video games"

Emmanuel Macron says social media is fuelling copycat violence in France and that state agencies would ask platforms such as Snapchat and TikTok to remove the most “sensitive content”.

Speaking after a second government crisis meeting, the president said violence was being organised online. Commenting on the young people involved, he said: “We sometimes have the feeling that some of them are living in the streets of the video games that have intoxicated them.”

Macron also urged parents to keep teenagers at home to quell rioting, saying many of those arrested are young. “It is the parents’ responsibility to keep them at home, and therefore it is important for everyone’s peace of mind that parental responsibility can be fully exercised,” he said.

(Rightfully) Mad at the police?  Loot and burn down businesses!

I condemn the individual destructive acts towards businesses in these types of riots, but I agree with the larger damage in terms of a lashing out against government-run society. If there is no such threat of loss of control over violence, then governments have very little motivation to act on important issues. We're just animals, in the end, and if the only potential penalty is monetary, then the government (acting on behalf of themselves/the rich) are unlikely to be scared. They need to fear societal violence in order to be kept in line. The French know this, and this is why their protests tend to be far more effective than those in the US.

A couple things about doing this in America.

1. Americans are dumb and lazy

2. American police force is basically the military and will murder you.

What the fuck do you think the rest of the world faces? Democracy is government by the people, the for the people part comes second to the first part. Either you enshrine a history or just deprecate it to hell like Reagan did.
