  1. So uh...how many of y'all are playing this? I started Shield and I picked Sobble as my starter. Filled up my party with Meowth (via Mystery Gift), Caterpie (now Metapod), Rookidee, Nickit, and Skwovet. I also caught a Hoothoot and some new bug-type PKMN (forgot the name) which I'll probably swap into my party once my Metapod evolves into Butterfree. I'm really digging this game so far. And I love re-entering the world of Pokémon. So many games want to have environments that look lived-in, broken, dirty or whatever...but in Pokémon? Everything is so neat and clean. Pristine, even. Maybe unrealistic, but I can't help but love the spotless and tidy world they present to players. Wish my own house was as clean as the ones in the game, haha.
  2. I totally get what you’re saying...but the fact that the rest of the narrative IS so “by the numbers” is what makes the twist so...uh, twisty. [insert_ryan_reynolds_detective_pikachu]
  3. Baten Kaitos and Baten Kaitos: Origins. 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors Kid Icarus Uprising
  4. I'm seeing a lot of repeat mentions of the same games in this thread! Grand Theft Auto 5, Metal Gear Solid V, The Last of Us, Skyrim, etc. These are either some of the best games EVER (some may say so!) or this forum has a fairly homogeneous taste in video games. Or maybe both apply here?
  5. Question in the title. My son requested this on his Christmas list.
  6. Same. Well, that game *could* be something up my alley, but I just haven't tried it yet.
  7. 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors SUPER Street Fighter IV Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars Kid Icarus Uprising Resident Evil Revelations Monster Hunter 4 ULTIMATE Pokémon Moon Animal Crossing: New Leaf Shovel Knight Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Not a comprehensive list by any means, but these are a few that spring to mind.
  8. I am for sure getting this. I have literally hundreds of Game Boy/Game Boy Color/Game Boy Advance carts so this is a slam dunk for me. Looking forward to the peripherals that allow use of Game Gear, Lynx and Neo Geo Pocket carts, too. Not sure if I need the dock, though. You could just get the dock (sold separately) and play the games on your TV or monitor.
  9. This seems unnecessary, and more lame than usual since they took out the awesome motion controls; the one thing that made this game fun to begin with. Less 40 mini-games and not much else (online leaderboards are cool I guess), this game might be a “pass” for me. Also, this is NOT the worst Monkey Ball. Clearly y’all haven’t played Super Monkey Ball Adventure.
  10. Wow, times flies when you’re cursing at the TV because that stupid crow came swooping in without warning and knocked you back into a bottomless pit and killing you instantly for the 54th time in a row GOD DAMN YOU NINJA GAIDEN....!!!!!!
  11. @Biggie A fine choice, my good sir. Perfect time of year for that game, and perfect for the lead-up to Luigi’s Mansion 3!
  12. I really liked Crisis Core. *shrugs* PSP also was host to the first Lumines, which I love. Both WipEout games were awesome, IMO. Speaking of racing games, Ridge Racer was BOSS on PSP. The remakes of Final Fantasy Tactics and Castlevania: Rondo of Blood were great as well. Though maybe those wouldn’t make the list since they are remakes? I dunno. PSP was great, dude! Even if the DS was my true go-to for that generation, Sony’s first entry in the handheld arena was no joke.
  13. Hot take: I think Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate got a bad rep for no reason. It's a fun game. And one of the better-looking 3DS games.
  14. Where are all the handheld games? It's like these fools never even heard of the PSP.

  16. @ShreddieMercuryRising Do not skip Canvas Curse. Depending on your tastes, I also recommend the Persona Q games. And there is a third person shooter called Ironfall that I found pretty good. It didn’t do well in reviews, but I liked it. It’s cheap too (even free to start) so you can check it out fairly risk-free. Also, if you like strategy games, check out Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars. It was a launch title for the system, and plays like X-COM. I recommend it.
  17. Oh yeah, forgot this was coming out. Guess I'll jump on that later today.
  18. This is the "wedge" version? Hmmm. I mean, yeah, at that price it's hard to say no to that! However, if you can find a good deal on the *NEW* 2DS XL instead....? I'd go that route. Of course, whatever you end up choosing, you can't make a wrong choice!
  19. @cusideabelincoln Awesome, the one on Newegg looks like a slam dunk. Gonna pull the trigger on it. Thank you everyone for the help! Y'all are the best!
  20. Okay, cool. Yeah, Roblox is another game that is likely to be played. Might pick up an XBONE controller for sure, since you mention platformers are better with that. Thanks! Good point...though time is of the essence since the kids' birthday is next week. May look into getting more RAM down the line, as needed. Thanks! Right on. Thank you!
  21. Thanks for all the advise, everyone! Wow, 16GB is recommended? I was thinking 8GB would suffice...and might work better for the budget. I may opt for a pre-built one. Work has been ramping up lately and I don’t have much time to sit down and get involved with something like that. Plus I’m lazy, so there is that. Lulz. The kind of games that will likely be played on it are stuff like Minecraft and Fortnite. Maybe a few other games of that ilk. The kid is gonna be using it, not me. (So no laptop) It doesn’t have to be a powerhouse...probably looking to last 4 or 5 years. Also it will be used for homework and things like that. Got a monitor, mouse and keyboard. Snap, didn’t think speakers would be separate...didn’t even think of a controller! (Isn’t KB/M superior anyway?) Hey. Don’t tell people things that are true about me.
  22. Hey y’all. As the topic says, I’m looking to either build or buy a new gaming rig. I’ve never done this before, so hoping to tap into your collective knowledge. Whats a good brand to start off with? I’ve heard suggestions for something called “Skytech” and another called “Cyberpower” are these better than an HP or Alienware? Also, how much RAM should I look to get? 8 GB work well enough? Also wanna take suggestions on processors. Intel? Ryzen? Something else? The budget is also like, $700. If possible. Thanks in advance...!
