  1. Yeah, I don’t really follow this stuff that closely, but I saw some smart person commenting that there are tax reasons to axe these properties now during the merger and that might just be a temporary hiccup. They are trying to get a big write off that they can only get during a merger. I dunno if that actually matters or means anything. I do also know that all the die hard Adult Swim fans hate whatever discovery did to them as well. Apparently they completely fucked Adult Swim. Again, I don’t really know the details, but I do know people were and are pissed. I know they cancelled Joe Pera, so they can get fucked forever just for that.
  2. Bah, I had seen this story pop up here and there and I figured that they were controlling the nervous system with electrodes or something, but this is just an air bladder moving the legs? Other than the creep factor, this feels like a total non-story.
  3. Expensive is right on the nose... I remember movie tickets always being cheap enough that you didn't even really think about the cost. Taking my two kids to a movie these days costs $40 bucks... and that includes zero snacks. I am in one of the cheapest Midwestern states there are... so I can only imagine the cost in big cities. For $40 bucks I can get Netflix for like 2.5 months.
  4. No, not really. All I'm familiar with is the right calling for him to be tried as a criminal, posting endless articles about him full of vague scary sounding half-truths and then an endless stream of thousands of people in Fox News comments/social media calling for him to be locked up and/or executed.
  5. I'm going to have to assume that they are not similar at all. Show me some examples of sensationalized villainization of him from the other side that even amounts to 1% of the bullshit he put up with from the right wing media over the last few years.
  6. It's really pathetic how the right tried to turn him into a villain. The right wing response to the entire pandemic was completely pathetic and disgusting.
  7. Elon Musk's father, who is in his late 70s was just in the news for impregnating his own stepdaughter who is like 40 years younger than he is. And you know, his step daughter. Good family. Elon Musk’s Dad Reveals He Had a Second Child With His Stepdaughter WWW.THEDAILYBEAST.COM “The only thing we are on Earth for is to reproduce,” Errol Musk told The Sun.
  8. I'm not even saying escapist fantasy is bad. It's just different from what we got in season one. I've fully embraced the new tone of the show and I still really like it. Can't wait for season 5. I did like season one more, but I'll take what I can get. This is also fun. Goonies and Lost Boys and all that stuff is also great. I'm down for whatever. Movies/Shows just need to create a compelling universe to exist in, and establish a tone. Then they need to make a fun story within those boundaries. It can feel jarring when they shift tones or change things or when a movie/show feels like they betrayed the rules they themselves put in place.
  9. Season 2 was a huge letdown for me. I recently rewatched 1,3 and 4... I should go back to 2 and see if it's as "bad" as I remember it being, or if it was just me being turned off by the giant shift in tone. Season 1 felt like a loving tribute to 80s movies and 80s culture, whereas season 2 felt like it took place inside of an 80s movie with volume turned up to 11. Seasons 3 and 4 took off in that direction even harder and they either pulled it off better or I had better accepted the new direction... or possibly both...
  10. It's a tricky pickle with killing off characters. I know that they are going for a whole 80s movie vibe and that all the true main characters have that "Plot Armor" or whatever you want to call it... but it really crossed over into silly territory a long time ago. Every one of these characters, playing by the rules established in the universe they created should be dead like 10 times over. You have to build a Golden Gate Bridge sized suspension bridge of disbelief just to accept anything that is happening... I mean, that's the tone they've set and I do really enjoy the show... but at the same time, it's hard to get a finger on where the danger levels should be. The danger doesn't really feel real for any of the protagonists. This is one of the main things they've gotten away from that they did so well in the first season. The first season, while still a TV show playing by TV show rules... felt way way way more realistic, plausible and grounded. It felt like we were watching a fantastical story of pure fantasy, but one with fairly realistic rules and very believable characters and believable character choices with realistic consequences for those choices. That ship has long since sailed off into the sunset. It went from being a strength of the franchise to one of it's biggest weaknesses as far as I'm concerned...
  11. I'm guessing Homelander's kid will ask him not to hurt them? ...or Homelander will decide it's more fun to keep them alive? At some point, just killing them all would have to be boring for him. He'll want them to wallow in defeat and helplessness more than he simply wants to laser their faces off.
  12. Yeah, the final showdown felt a little forced. I feel like Homelander's power level was too low. I don't care how much temp V butcher shot up, him being able to go toe-to-toe with Homelander feels out-of-whack with how powerful they've established him being. Same goes for Maeve. Maybe Soldier Boy sapped some of his power? I know Soldier Boy hurt him for the first time, but did he also weaken him permanently? If that was established I missed it. Sometimes, for a show about the most famous/powerful people in the world, it feels very small. I kind of like it sometimes, but the idea that Starlight or Hughie could just walk around NY is a little silly. The idea that security in Vaught tower or Vaught anything is so low that it can be broken into by a drugged out French guy, a social worker and a Best Buy employee is a little goofy. But, I understand the tone they're going for, so I can let it slide. I feel like if this goes on for more than 2 more seasons, it will either have to start really spinning its wheels or just go completely silly. I'm down for spin-offs. That could be a good way to keep it going. I've watched some of Diabolical. It's okay, but not really blowing me away.
  13. Invincible isn't delayed or anything, but apparently they just recorded the voices in April, which means it's more likely to be a 2023 release. There are rumors that they are doing seasons 2 and 3 at the same time. There should be less of a gap between them.
  14. Watching this also made me really want season 2 of Invincible... which apparently isn't coming any time soon. Booooo....
  15. I blew through all 3 seasons in like a week and a half. Season 1 was more fun than I remember it being... I remember it being more bleak. It's too goofy to really be bleak. I thought season 2 was much more sloppy and all over the place. It picked up by the end, but it was really spinning it's wheels for the first half. The storytelling felt sloppy. It was the only time during the show when I ever felt lost or confused about what was happening and why. Season 3 was very strong though. Best season for sure. I know it has been renewed for season 4, but how long do we expect this show to go on? I feel like they have one or two seasons left to tell this story without really mixing up the formula. I know this is pretty different from the comics, but how much more is there to go in the comics?
  16. Yeah, I mean, it did weaken Vecna... sure... but they could have just as easily not done any of it, and had it not weaken Vecna and it would have had zero effect on the story.
  17. We gots the COVID again... This time my older son has bad cold level symptoms... I just feel tired and kinda foggy and very mild headachy... my wife feels similar to me but less so and my youngest seems fine. COVID is weird.
  18. I like how Fox News reports inane meaningless Elan Musk tweets as top news stories at least once or twice a week.
  19. Quiet Place 2 Spiderman: No Way Home The Batman Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Everything Everywhere All At Once Multiverse of Madness The Bad Guys I bought tickets to the new Minions Movie but my dad ended up taking my son Next will be Thor with both boys, but it won't be opening weekend.
  20. I wish the streaming services would do longer recaps. Make a full 30 minute long season recap for each season. These little 2 minute long dealies don't really cut it for how complicated most of these shows are. I'll get around to this season in a few weeks probably, and while I kinda remember what happened in season 2, I also really don't. All I remember is that it took place in the 60s during the Keneddy Assassination and that the dad guy was involved and it ended poorly for the characters or something? I mean, yeah. I need recaps.
  21. My son made the joke that main villain of season 5 was going to be Will’s barber. I agree that his character has been mostly useless this entire show. He literally did nothing in seasons 3 and 4. He was sorta tagging along. This show has way too many characters and always feels like they have to have everyone involved. In one of the episodes about halfway in, I counted 6 separate storylines they were juggling at once. Six.
  22. While I still like it, this show has gotten progressively sillier and sillier each season. I feel like at this pace by season 7 or 8 they would have Eleven fighting a godzilla sized monster on the moon in a giant mech made by the kids from carnival ride parts or something. (and yes, I know it’s supposed to end after 5 seasons… but I guarantee they will make spin-offs. They’ll keep this gravy train rolling.)
