General Gaming What tv do you use for gaming?

LG B7 55” in my living room has my switch and PS4 hooked up to it. TCL 55” in the basement has my Xbox One hooked up to it -
I love how every new console generation people forget that there are never very many games in the first 6 months. Yet they still manage to get themselves all riled every time lol. I love the look of the console. I’m over the generic black boxes just designed to look like your cable box. Give me something new and interesting to look at. Plus I’m a sucker for accent lights.

Television Anything like The Last Kingdom I could watch?

Really? I’d love a good pirate show but I always assumed it was kinda low budget and not great. No idea why I thought that though haha -

If you just want a show that’s focused on a singular character but the setting doesn’t matter then try Altered Carbon. Not nearly on TLK level but it’s a really fun show in a cool setting and it might be the prettiest show I’ve ever seen in 4k -
I don’t really agree with this. Games are praised across all levels of of the artistic spectrum. Ori and Journey are both praised as highly as TLOU and all 3 couldn’t be or look more different from each other. All of them are examples of some of the highest levels that video games to reach. And to answer the question about violence vs fun. Absolutely you can pull that off and still carry the full weight of the message. Look at a book like American Psycho. One of the most violent and upsetting things I’ve ever read. But at the same time very entertaining and funny at times while never compromising any of its themes of messages.

Really? I understood that making Manhattan the universal threat technically still kept the story true to the original theme. But for some reason, and it’s been so long since I’ve watched it I really can’t remember why I thought this, I thought it didn’t make as much sense as the original alien ending.

General Gaming What’s the boards take on Dark Souls?
Mercury33 replied to maddux4163's topic in The Spawn Point
I beat O+S with no help but good god did it take me a long time. Probably a week or so? Log on, try 10 or so times. Log off and try again the next day. The feeling of finally beating bosses in this game was like a drug. Only boss that took me longer was the wolf with the sword in its mouth. -
That’s probably the reason it didn’t bother me. I didn’t read man Superman books except for the Death of Superman arc. I could never get into them. So I really don’t care how anything happened in the books. He doesn’t just flip a switch and become a hero out of nowhere. They show throughout his life that being heroic is in his nature. He saves the bus as a kid. Throughout his adult life he does things to save people that risks exposing himself. It’s when he meets Lois that she kind of pushes him into being an actual hero. That influence isn’t absent from the film it’s just delivered in a different way. The battle he has inside himself over his nature vs what his parents taught him to keep him safe makes him a WAY more interesting character than the kinda bland one he seems to be in the books.

I think the messages that Costner instills is a much more realistic representation of what a lot of parents would do. To selfishly(I guess) fear for and protect their child at any cost. The fact that his real father is the one who instills the morality we more closely associate with Superman makes more sense. He’s fully aware of his sons true power and potential. And he’s already lived to the end of a civilization and he has those experiences and lessons to give to his son. He’s able to see the bigger picture because he’s seen the consequences on the biggest of scales. Man of Steel is awesome.
