  1. Back in the swing of things gaming wise as my life is getting back on track. I will be finished with Pokemon in a few days and so fancy picking up a cheap (let's say 20 dollars or less) eshop game this weekend. My favourite indie games are Stardew Valley, Golf Story and Graceful Explosion Machine. Something similar to any of those would be great. So what's good?
  2. Played another hour or so of Pokemon Let's Go. It is charming and fun, but it's sooo fucking easy. I hope the difficulty ramps up soon.
  3. For the first time in ages, I have been in the mood for gaming this weekend! Played about an hour of Stardew Valley, made a new save on the forest map. Now going to make a coffee and a sandwich, then start Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu. I have the Pokeball controller thingie, but it is too small for my hands, so not going to bother with it.
  4. It's that time of year when those of us in the northern hemisphere get coughs and sneezes etc... So what's your go-to remedy? My wife always makes me a syrup from raw onion and sugar that seems to soothe a cough. I'm trying something new right now. Sugar-laden tea with a dash of home brewed alcohol made from peaches that a student gave me for Christmas. What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger....
  5. Hi everyone. I've not posted on here for a while, so thought I'd post something to let you know I'm still alive.... As you may or may not remember, I moved house and changed jobs at the end of the summer and I dropped off the radar a bit at that point. Well - things were a clusterfuck of epic proportions. My "great" new job turned out to be a scam. I signed a contract to get paid a set rate per lesson taught - but when my first payday rolled around, I got less than half of what I expected -and told my contract was "in error". I tried to keep working there and resolve the situation - but the following payday was the final straw - I was expecting to get paid around 4000 Polish Zloty, and I got.... 299. I quit the next day, and I'm currently taking legal action to try to get what I'm owed. What made it so bad, was that I'd had a rough summer - and this job was supposed to be the solution to everything. Instead it just fucked me even more. Luckily I got another job within a week of quitting, but now I live in the middle of nowhere in a place we can't really afford, and its a bastard commute to work! I'm totally broke because of all the fuckery by my previous employer, although at least I can see light at the end of the tunnel now I have a job that actually pays what I am supposed to get. 2-3 months from now I will be back on my feet. (I seem to have been saying that since last spring!) My wife's health is still poor, and she's struggling with anxiety and depression on top of everything else now because of the stress of what's happened. I've been depressed myself. I don't really play any games at the moment (even Stardew!), life is just work, sleep, repeat. Anyway - I am still alive, and I lurk here from time to time. If (when?) things get better and I start gaming again, I guess I'll post more as I have something to say. Happy New Year D1Pers!
  6. Supposing they went the opposite way? Get rid of the portable aspect, so no need for screen, battery, dock etc. Just make a small console to plug into the TV for under $150?
  7. This. Unless it has a much better screen, or some games exclusively on it like the new 3DS, I doubt I'll upgrade initially.
  8. Goodbye Jose? https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/jose-mourinho-set-sacked-weekend-13370135
  9. West Ham have caught fire recently, beating Everton, scoring 8 in the Micky Mouse Cup, then today's win. Both my Grandfathers were West Ham fans. They will be smiling in heaven tonight.
  10. When you are finished, if you want to travel and put those skills to use, let me know. I work as an English teacher here in Poland, and I have contacts in other places as well. Good luck with the course.
  11. Interesting. I remember a friend of mine getting a N64, and I was really impressed by Wave Race when I saw it.
  12. Again, this aspect didn't register when I was reading before. To be honest, a backup that doesn't last beyond the subscription period, is almost worthless.
  13. Ah, I must admit I skipped over that aspect when I was reading and focused on the NES game part. Yes, you are right. I would hope Nintendo would guarantee to keep cloud saves for a minimum fixed period even after a subscription expires.
  14. I don't get the issue? If you are paying for online, I would assume that you would go online once a week? Even if you are on a trip, how hard is it to tether to your phone, or find a WiFi hot-spot once in 7 days?
  15. The autumn directs have been better than Nintendo's E3 spotlights since the Switch came out. I have never played a Luigi's mansion before, and I can't say it's something that immediately appeals to me. Civ, Animal Crossing and Town all got my attention though. 2019 is looking great.
  16. That's similar to how my tablets work. It's like I still feel the pain, but don't really care...
  17. Those of you who use it for pain, how effective is it? I have destroyed my left hip and need a replacement. In the mean time I am in constant pain, and use strong prescription painkillers. I am sure these tablets are causing all sorts of harm and I want an alternative.
  18. https://civilization.com/news/entries/civilization-vi-nintendo-switch-console-november-16-2018/ Portable Civ. Between this and Stardew, my life is over. This was probably in the postponed Direct.
  19. https://www.iflscience.com/health-and-medicine/italian-doctors-invent-new-tool-to-remove-23inch-dildo-from-mans-rectum/ The fact it had been stuck for 24 hours before he went to hospital, and that he felt fine, boggles my mind...
