The cluster bomb thing is tough. On the one hand, the Ukrainians know what they need to achieve and they want weapons to help that. On the other is the fact that this will exacerbate issues with demining in a future where Ukrainian territory is retaken. In response to the first, they know that they need area-wide weapons to deal with entrenched Russian defenses. Their artillery cannot saturate enough as it is to achieve their aims. So they want wider area effects out of their weapons. Unfortunately, I don't know that this is the silver bullet they want it to be.
