Nokra replied to CitizenVectron's topic in The Political Re-Education Camp
I had a very lazy weekend. Mostly stayed home, did some longer walks with the pup around town, ran errands and cleaned up around the house, organized some Blu Ray rips, etc. At the start of the weekend when I asked this, I was feeling anxious about not having any plans. In hindsight, this might have been exactly what I needed. Did anyone end up doing more than they expected? -
Yeah he's very smart and eager to please, which makes training easy. He's got lots of energy for hikes, runs, playing, etc. but when we're home, he's also perfectly willing to chill on the couch. I was worried about having such a potentially-energetic dog in an apartment in the city, but he does great.

By official decree of the President of the United States of America, that man is an idiot. -
This is Sam, named after a favorite fictional character. You can probably guess the source, based on my avatar. <---- He's an Aussie / border collie mix (60/40) and is a very good boy. Let's see your pets!

I mean... we've all been oblivious to what's going on around us to some degree at various times, but if someone explains what is going on, that should have been the end of it.

Tonight I'm drinking this: Pineapple Party Punch – Rogue WWW.ROGUE.COM I'm not usually a huge IPA fan but the pineapple is perfectly proportioned to balance out the bitterness of the IPA without this being overly sweet. It does pack a decent punch at 8.4% ABV though.

Anyone have any big plans for Labor Day weekend? I totally forgot it was this weekend so I'm trying to figure out what I want to do. -
From the (admittedly little) that I studied of recommender systems during my master's in CS, it's a pretty common problem that I suspect we've all noticed: As soon as they realize you like something, recommender systems tend to flood you with that thing, eschewing novelty for familiarity and easy "wins" (re: desirable content). Which is all to say, I don't think this was necessarily malicious or even intentional, but it's a general problem.

General Gaming What are you playing today?
Nokra replied to CastlevaniaNut18's topic in The Spawn Point
I'm ashamed to admit that I have never actually played Portal 2! I bought it way back when, got distracted, and never returned to it. Maybe that will be my weekend plan. -

I went back and played Portal again (on PC). It's been nearly 15 years since it came out ( ) but it's still a blast, and the humor still works. I sat down expecting to play maybe 15 minutes before bed and ended up playing for two hours and beat it. Excellent game! -
If you wakeup to use the bathroom, do you turn the light on or leave it off?
Nokra replied to Bacon's topic in The Shower
do_it.gif I got a Tushy and it was really easy to install (5 minutes or less) and has been great for the last year. Also, I once saw someone recommend keeping one eye closed when turning on the light so that you keep your night vision in one eye for when you turn the lights back off.
