  1. Consoles are meant to be inexpensive gaming devices. You can pick any 2 of inexpensive hardware, 4k, and high frame rates for a modern game-- but can't have all 3. That dream is still available for a GPU with dedicated AI cores.
  2. It's not really different than other games. True, most games don't have a difficulty spike in the tutorial. The first mission I completed after the tutorial was dead easy by comparison.
  3. I thought it was lower than that-- but @stepee was suggesting the use case was a handheld -- and IMHO, for most games they don't seem to close to a solid 40 on many titles.
  4. This really feels like a middle-school level analysis of one of St. Thomas Aquinas's arguments -- and IMHO, this guy really doesn't understand most of the science he's trying to reference. It's been decades since I spent any time on the philosophy of the existence of god, but I haven't ever found one that was even remotely satisfying to me -- and I've read arguments from some pretty sophisticated philosophers. If you want to believe, you have to do it based on faith alone -- because there isn't a coherent argument that can stand up to any scientific/philosophical scrutiny. [Similarly, it's also virtually impossible to prove the nonexistence of God (or almost anything else).] If you're looking at reasons to believe in God, I think Pascal's Wager is fascinating.
  5. I hope it is better than I think it will be. The lack of vector data, and the recommendation to have a base 60+fps rate don't give me a lot of hope. However, that said, there may be a subset of games (i.e. with a GUI that is pretty stable) that it works really well in.
  6. I've learned to temper my expectations with AMD features -- it will be interesting to see how well it works across a broad spectrum of games. Not holding my breath on this one.
  7. This is my first attempt at playing a FromSoft game, so I had to learn their design style (and what all of the meters are doing). I never played Sekiro (but always wanted to).
  8. A couple of missions in on the PC. Being able to read the tutorial prompts has helped me understand what the different meters do. Completed the tutorial and first mission. The first boss took me 4-5 tries, but once I understood the stagger bar, and how to actually do damage, it wasn't that hard.
  9. It's definitely not a looker, and doesn't seem to support DLSS/FSR. I can see myself getting it if it supports Ultrawide. Edit: Just bought it on CDKEYs.
  10. AMD and Nvidia clearly have different problems -- nVidia lack of memory is something that makes me happy I'm not buying a mid-tier/budget card ATM. But it is really promising to see that nVidia is adding performance benefits to its older cards as well.
  11. nVidia will continue to push the boundaries on AI improving graphical performance/IQ. Media/influencers will briefly acknowledge it, then go back to creating lots of charts that show how GPUs compare in rasterization performance only.
  12. Surprised they wasted an air-to-air missile - they’re expensive. Usually they just throw them out of a window or off a balcony.
  13. No one looks good when hit pieces come out like this. Linus doesn't look good for the problems in their videos -- particularly the issue they had with Billet. Steve raises a number of very valid concerns. Serious question though -- who in their right mind has ever gone to LTT for GPU benchmarks? Aren't they the channel where you go to watch them do a build of a PC in a tank case, or describing a crazy network setup they wanted to do, or creating a insane PC to fail at playing games at 8k? Steve doesn't look good either. Not reaching out for comment demonstrates that he really isn't a journalist (so probably shouldn't be doing these kind of videos). And while he makes some great points, he comes across as petty when putting in all the value judgments in his videos -- particularly when taking issue with putting visual corrections in videos. While he may not personally like it, it is done ALL the time in video editing on YouTube. It's really unclear to me what he is trying to achieve with this piece. The aspect of his script writing (that comes off as an angry social media poster -- using words like unacceptable, incompetent, etc.) that has me watching other YouTubers more (i.e. Hardware Unboxed, Paul's Hardware, Hardware Canucks, Digital Foundry, etc.) even though I suspect Steve has a better understanding of the hardware.

  15. Watched the credits on two games tonight. Ratchet & Clank -- A Rift Apart -- solid game 8/10. A little short, but way too easy. Harry Potter -- Hogwart's Legacy -- Didn't recognize I had 30 minutes after the final boss fight to see the credits.. 8/10. The first ten hours were magic, but it couldn't keep it up. A solid 8/10. Thinking of playing through Spider-Man this week.
  16. @best3444 -- if this is the case, I think I know why you may have run out of games to play!
