Similarly,I won’t be surprised by you posting every few weeks in this thread that you don’t like Ubisoft or Assassin’s Creed games.

I was out of town, so didn't get an opportunity to play until now. Played just over an hour (and finished the first area). Graphics are great, game is fun. No problems with frame rates. Turned off dynamic resolution, and just playing with frame generation -- and its maxing out my display @~165Hz. I've only played one R&C game before (Tools of Destruction), and this very much feels like that game all over again.,

There are dozens of videos on Youtube looking at Steam Deck performance of this game (and every other game that comes out). If @Commissar SFLUFAN has now given an OK with us posting twitter videos that are hosted by Twitter, I'm fine with that. But that wasn't mine (or others) understanding. Given that Wade pays for the site, and has very few rules, I follow what he wants. I've been actively avoiding posting Twitter videos, but will now follow his new guidance. I'm fine if you disagree with me. We're all entitled to our own POV.

I didn't notice it was a video either -- to me it doesn't really matter. I'm sure @Commissar SFLUFAN can tell us what the rules are. I had thought all Twiiter links were banned. For the specific video, if someone REALLY wanted to watch it, a screen shot is enough for them to spend 30 seconds to find it to watch it. IMHO, after watching it, there was nothing in it that a 2 second summary couldn't adequately describe. Is this the policy that they are deleting content that doesn't get any views that is uploaded anonymously? Or their policy against porn? Or something else?

The last time this was a big deal a couple of years ago, Ubi claimed they deleted accounts that didn't own things after ~4 years, and ones that owned things only got deleted with mitigating circumstances (i.e. required by GDPR). I see nothing in this tweet that contadicts this. As usual, the sites reporting this have done no follow-up, give no context/details -- and neither does the original tweet.

Yes. But VERY rarely, and only when we were very young -- my mother had a wooden spoon on the knuckles, and my dad had the "magic finger", which was a flick to the side of the head. Very minor stuff.

Gaming Accessories What TV do you game on? Are you happy with it?

I don’t understand how you Americans locate your air conditioners. Why do you put this above your TV? -
I'm wondering if the move to UE5 will have more games scaling beyond 8 cores. The benchmarks I have seen suggest a $150 CPU (like a Ryzen 5600) won't give you a solid 60 in all games.

What games are you thinking of?
-
1) Keep in mind that most games are designed 1st for console, so their CPU demands will be scaled around the CPUs in SeX/PS5 for the foreseeable future 2) % improvement is close to irrelevant in the real world in many cases. Once you hit a certain frame rate, the frame rate improvement is largely irrelevant 3) If you are looking to future proof, look at the recently released games only with your target framerate and resolution. Decide what kind of buffer you are looking for. Many of the "benefits" that are in the averages are in older titles that are realized in framerates that most monitors aren't capable of displaying (and if they could, you probably wouldn't be able to notice anyways) 4) I wouldn't buy a CPU with less than 8 cores. Game engines are likely to better support more cores going forward. If you watch the youtuber benchmarking videos they are really disconnected from real-world benefits to users. However, the Youtuber "build" videos always recommend very modest CPUs.

The sweet spot on GPUs (in terms of longevity vs. cost) for gaming, IMHO, is somewhere in the $400 range. If you care about playing multiplayer e-sports shooters at 200 fps, getting a more powerful CPU helps with that. Most of the CPU benchmarks focus on situations that most "real-world" gamers won't care about. Unless of course, you can tell the difference between 210 fps and 225 fps.

I stopped buying consoles and decided to be PC only -- my kids (and their friends) are now PC only as well.
