  1. When desalination actually becomes cost effective, whether by technological breakthrough or the sheer price of water, those land locked nations are going to get really itchy. Good thing we have nice, stable, land locked nations like Belarus.
  2. Exactly this. If we're including spinoffs that means you take into account like Pokemon Cafe Mix or Detective Pikachu or Pokken Tournament.
  3. Ehhhh...the only thing Dragon Quest has added is no random battles and a being able to pointlessly run around in battle. Nothing else has changed other than updates to the graphics. I love both it and Pokemon, but they're both the top examples of games that don't play any differently than they did thirty years ago. The biggest and only real gameplay change either of them has introduced is ditching random battles.
  4. Are 6DOF shooters still a thing? Last game I played that sort of fit the bill but not really was Star Wars: Squadron which is mildly barf-inducing in VR. Either way, I'm thinking about Forsaken here. Nobody remembers that game and the only real 6DOF game anybody remembers is Descent. The entire genre feels dead.
  5. That would be a wildly compelling handheld and it's crazy to me that Sony just sort of gave up on it and the entire Japanese market.
  6. The last few games I played were on PC, but I'm going to have to agree. The Switch is a fantastic console. It's also the perfect place for indies. The last game I played on the Switch was the indie title Jenny LeClue: Detectivu which was a ton of fun and just works so damn well on the Switch. If given the option, I'd normally buy a game there than any other platform due to it's flexibility. Games like Carrion, Spiritfarer, Slay the Spire, or whatever are perfect in the Switch. I don't understand what anyone would get choosing any other platform for indie games that aren't exactly GPU intensive.
  7. Yeah, I don't know if I see Mario Odyssey is going to be very influential, not even among future Mario titles. Now Bowser's Fury? That's a different story. That game, I believe, was a wildly successful experiment on Nintendo's part and I'm looking forward to the ideas created there being iterated on in the future.
  8. I know all about the way damages are calculated in that regard. I just didn't know the NFL took race into account when compensating players for game-related injuries.
  9. This is a thing? How did I miss this? What's the combination of a shocked face and guillotine look like?
  10. Remember when Osaka was told "we can't wait for that next mask" in response to the masks she wore commemorating black folks recently murdered? Aussie commentator caught in racism controversy at US Open 7NEWS.COM.AU The tennis great has doubled down after being slammed over a baffling question in a post-match interview with Naomi Osaka. The sports press am very smart.
  11. Yes, but they at least announced a year for the release. First it was 2020 and then pushed to later this year and now to early next year.
  12. Game is getting pushed to next year... King of Fighters 15 delayed to 2022 WWW.POLYGON.COM COVID-19 cases in Japan to blame, SNK says
  13. This seems relevant to the Jordan talk... I played alongside Jordan. I’ve seen the pressure on athletes like Naomi Osaka | Naomi Osaka | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM A sporting career at the highest level can bring wealth, fame and adoration. It does not cushion you against the pain of being human
  14. This. Jordan hated the press. Had social media existed then like it does today, he would have dumped the press conferences and controlled his narrative, himself. Does anyone really think otherwise? This is the man that opted out of NBPA because he wanted more control over himself.
  15. I thought this was a bad translation or something, but nope. He really did ask the judge if he could lie and that is the most amazing question ever.
  16. Skip the ham and pork chops, go straight to the tasty bits. Best part is that pork shoulder will run you like $2/lb.
  17. Everyone is backing away from the harsher language they had been using ever since Osaka opened up on social media. Grand Slam tennis leaders pledge to address Naomi Osaka's concerns about players' mental health WWW.ESPN.COM Grand Slam tennis tournaments are pledging to address players' mental health concerns in the wake of Naomi Osaka withdrawing from the French Open. I'm sure this is mostly to avoid the bad press and they'll actually do nothing.
  18. Pork is the better tasting meat, so no loss there. I don't care what anyone says, pork shoulder is a tastiest cut of meat. Fight me.
  19. And no part of Osaka's problems here have anything to do with the game. The old rich guys that run sports stations and newspapers think they're the arbiters of access to athletes and that hasn't been the case for years now. Athletes and celebrities have so much direct access to their fans that traditional media has to adapt. Twenty years ago, it was enough to just have a talkshow host just talk because they had no other way to reach millions. These days celebrities go on The Tonight Show to play charades because clips for YouTube are more important than anything people have to say I'm any formal setting. If I really wanted to know what Osaka is up to I can just check out her Instagram. I'd love for you to tell me about the last actually insightful press conference that told you something you didn't already know. The best question I've seen asked at any of these dumb press conferences is when Jimmy Kimmel's Guillermo asked LeBron to describe his perfect salad and even that was years ago.
  20. I think there's a slight difference between Kyrie and the best player the spory has to offer. This would be more akin to LeBron refusing to speak to the press while in Miami, winning championships. Nah. Middling players might need to make a name for themselves and entertain the press, but Osaka is irreplaceable. She's not Kyrie-level good. She's the best. She has the talent to dictate the terms of her employment. Any actor can be replaced and recast, but her talent literally doesn't exist anywhere else on Earth.
  21. I hate the NYT... That bullshit line is there just to turn readers against Osaka here. The writer here is reminding their readers of how much she made so that readers will think to themselves "I'd deal with stupid questions for $50m". No, she got that money for her play on the court, not because she signed up to be an ambassador answering the same stupid questions day in and day out. Defector covered this story better... Will Tennis Blink Before Naomi Osaka Does? | Defector DEFECTOR.COM Naomi Osaka’s insistence upon her right to remain silent is ridiculous, admirable, silly, thought-provoking and, well, fascinating. Not necessarily wise, I grant you, in the ways that most of these measuring...
  22. Reminds me of that Tarantino interview from a few years back. In Conversation With Quentin Tarantino WWW.VULTURE.COM Midway through his eighth movie, the director discusses writing scripts by hand, ‘90s nostalgia, and becoming — relatively — mellow with time.
  23. Hasn't it been rumored for a while that No Way Home was going to feature a bunch of villains for the previous Spider-Man movies? I swear I recall seeing Molina and Foxx already confirmed as being in this.
