Music Top 10 Albums of the Decade 2010-2019
GeneticBlueprint replied to DPCyric's topic in The Performing Arts Centre
GB's top 20 of the 2010s: #20-#16 20. Scale the Summit - The Collective (2011) A fantastic collection of instrumental adventures that are at times chunky, at times plunky, and always give way to a melodic resolution and emotional uplift at some point. Favorite tracks: Black Hills, Whales, The Levitated 19. Nathan Salsburg - Third (2018) More instrumental goodness. Third takes pensive acoustic instrumental music and elevates it without being gimmicky (looking at you Andy Mckee and Erik Mongrain). Nathan uses some very unconventional tunings that allow some truly beautiful harmonies to ring through on multiple strings that normally wouldn't be possible, or would be much more muted by having to finger them in a more conventional tuning. Favorite tracks: Impossible Air, Timoneys, BB 18. Haken - Affinity (2016) Everything on the album is 80s-infused--production, cover art, lyrics, song titles. I don't know why. There are some songs on here with snippets that are bound to be timeless prog moments. And there are some beautiful poppy moments as well. Yet it is all punctuated by a modern prog sound. Everything on this album is on its A game but Ross Jennings' vocals are the clear standout performance. Favorite tracks: 1985, The Endless Knot, The Architect 17. Astronoid - Air (2016) This album has only gotten better over time for me. The happy, soaring, black-gazey melodies are catchy and memorable. They just stick with you. Favorite tracks: Up and Atom, Resin, Obsolete 16. Le Matos - Join Us (2013) Of all the synthwave/new retrowave that has exploded in the 2010's Join Us is the most consistent front to back. Another album that could have gone into this spot for me was the soundtrack they did for the movie Turbo Kid. Favorite tracks: The Stuff, Montrose, Interceptor -

I did like 90% of this six months ago but ever since I started working from home I haven't looked at the document which was on my work laptop because I much prefer working on my home desktop for all the reasons. But here's the start of my best of the decade list. I've avoided doubling up on artists within this decade list as well as avoided having anything that appeared in my top of 2019 appear here to keep it a little different. -
I really can't believe they have the gall to offer that Note 20 at $1000. It's worse than every other flagship in every sense. Yet more expensive smdh. It's worse than their previous base Note models too. But it continues a trend I suppose. Note 9: 1440p, glass back, Micro SD card slot, headphone jack, $999 Note 10: 1080p, glass back, no micro sd card slot, no headphone jack, $949 Note 20: 1080p, plastic back, no micro sd card slot, no headphone jack, $999 Lol. The fuck outta here.

I did open up my work laptop and found the file I was using. All the formatting to easily paste most of it here was gone. And since it was the decade I was actually doing a top 20. Maybe--starting tomorrow--I'll post 5 per day or something like that. -
Giant explosion in port of Beirut

TLDR: Port authority wouldn't let a Russian cargo ship that made an unscheduled stop leave without paying $100k. So the crew abandoned it. It's been sitting there for 5 years. The port authority knew the danger and has been asking the government what to do with it and the government has not responded. Then blooey. -

https://www.wect.com/2020/08/05/beirut-wedding-photo-shoot-video-captures-blast/ A wedding shoot catches the blast on the ground. Doesn't look like anybody was hurt in this video but you can see all the shattered glass from the shock wave. -

Explosion in a place with brown people and a funny alphabet? It's definitely a bomb even if there's a perfectly logical alternative explanation. -

China's was definitely bigger. Plus it was more lethal. China said 150 perished so it was probably quite a bit higher than that. -
I agree with Keyser. 4 v 4 doesn't leave any room for mixing it up with vehicles. Which is like a staple of Halo MP.

You just know that Lebanon has great regulations about how much of that you can store and how close together. -

Man I had a whole write-up going on for this topic. Then the pandemic hit and I stopped using my work laptop and just used my home computer for work. I should dig that up and finish it/post it.
