  1. This does seem to fit into the "McGahn is the hero" genre of leaks. But I tend to think they are fairly reliable. Whether or not McGahn is selectively leaking details to make himself look good, unless he is just making shit up there's no reason to disbelieve the underlying claims. I think the most generous possibility here for Trump is some version of events where McGahn was in the room when Trump was ranting and raving and McGahn chose to present his ramblings as requests rather than just an old, angry man tilting at windmills(in this case, sometimes literally).
  2. On one hand, I am not particularly fond of Pelosi. On the other hand, I am extremely unimpressed by the arguments about empowering the conservative boogeyman message. The conservatives will demonize whoever the Dems raise to power. Trying to make leadership decisions based on that is like the movie troupe about, "he knows that I know that he knows that I know." Best just to ignore that aspect and choose who is going to be the most effective leader. Like @skillzdadirecta said, this challenge isn't coming from the progressive side anyway, so why should Cortez back it?
  3. Is that actually Trump's mom? That is so perfect. From the crazy hair that looks like a parody of Trump's own, to the fact that the older Donald gets, the more he is genuinely looking more and more like his own mother.
  4. This is one of those times where I wish I had any talent for drawing. I see a picture of Boo standing over Sully's prone corpse. Boo with a smoking pistol, and Sully with a gaping wound in his skull.
  5. Reminds me of that old joke about free bacon being a Jew's ultimate dilemma. In this case, a liberal or conservative's ultimate dilemma; proof the Crown Prince ordered the assassination acquired by the CIA torturing a witness
  6. From what I am hearing, there is a legitimate chance that it was Dems own fault for stupid ballot design.
  7. The same people that didn't blink an eye at the New Yorker laying out an exhaustive and definitive trail of how Trump's daddy illegally funneled him half a billion dollars are also the ones making hay about Cortez having 15k in her bank account.
  8. Such a surprise that the GOP got their clocks cleaned in Orange County. When the conflict between California and murderous wildfire broke out this week, Donald Trump sided with murderous fire.
  9. Maybe it's a state by state thing. I don't think I've ever had my ID requested while using my debit card. Like @CitizenVectron said, some places do want you to sign a receipt, but with chips replacing swiping almost everywhere the past few years I can't recall the last time I was asked to do even that.
  10. Did anyone catch the handful of positive Brexit news stories yesterday? May's team and the EU had finally agreed on a preliminary deal for Brexit. Yeah, that's not going so well with people on both sides hating that it goes too far or not far enough(shocker). My favorite line. Those Brits can make anything sound classy.....
  11. The answer should be, "The same place we got one and a half trillion dollars to give millionaires and billionaires. The only difference is we'll wind up with a healthier and more educated country instead of just rich people who can afford an extra yacht".
  12. I get what you're saying, but it makes me want to kill myself that a Rove operation is the good example in that situation. Remember the days when we could all have a good laugh about Ham Rove? Quaint.
  13. Sometimes we overthink Trump because he is a simple creature and even the best of us slide into the 12 dimensional chest mindset. We dismiss it because of its absurdity, but what if Trump really did think a red wave was coming? He thought the polls were "fake" and his special sauce that won him 2016 was going to prove everyone wrong again. If he really did beleive that, he may be staring straight at reality for the first time.
  14. Just imagine that famous line from Braveheart with a Canadian accent..... "If we can't get them out, we'll breed them out, eh?"
  15. I was going to post this exact reference a few hours ago, but I couldn't find a video of it online
  16. Apparently there are rumblings around DC that indictments are coming today. Not sure if it's just extrapolating from the info posted in this thread or if reporters have heard off the record chatter.
  17. Trump is like a Magic 8 Ball of his own failure. We probably should have called it as soon as he was whining for a new election there.
  18. The GOP was pretty damn sour on Trump, too. As the primary nears, imagine the Dems start to panic about a crowded field with low name recognition. But more importantly, imagine they start telling themselves the narrative, "Why take our chances with a wild card when Hillary won the popular vote and a fluke cost her in the Electoral College? Now Trump is less popular because he has a record that he didn't have in '16, that'll definitely net us whatever razor thin margin we needed in WI, PA, and MI."
