  1. When I saw this thread bumped I figured it was for an update on the aide's condition. Did she pull through?
  2. It's the right and politically smart thing to do to motion towards bipartisanship. We can judge what they do when they get there, but saying you're willing to work with Trump is basically a formality. It's the "we do not comment on rumors" of politics. It might seem old fashioned or naive to people now(and I think there is a degree of bullshit in it), but yet again Trump shows us why this "cut the bullshit, let's get real" type of politics is not necessarily better. Remember that comment Trump made about how he wants to work with Democrats, but if they investigate him he won't. Is that the kind of stance we want from Pelosi? Because when you break it down, what Trump is saying is that if Democrats perform their Constitutional function of performing oversight on him he will deliberately retaliate by punishing the American people by refusing to work on bipartisan bills that would be good for the country. It's almost certainly not going to happen, it's fair to be realistic and a bit cynical about that, but I don't want Pelosi to state, or even sit down at the bargaining table, with that exact same mindset only with the sides reversed.
  3. Trump managed to get us in a quagmire without even leaving the country!
  4. Possible Onion article headline, "In final act as Attorney General, Jeff Sessions emails police departments a DIY guide on how to wrap your baton in barbwire"
  5. I am staring at this news like a Rubik's cube, trying to study it from every angle. I am trying to figure out if there is a benefit to them planting this story, but I don't see it. The reason I am somewhat surprised they did something this stupid is because I think they did something pretty cunning with the timing. They really neutralized the backlash from the left by doing this immediately after the election. It seems to have totally dampened what everyone considered to be a redline. If they really did fuck up the pick after actually making a pretty sneaky move, well, that would be just like stupid Watergate.
  6. It is my understanding that this caravan is something of an annual thing and this thinning out was totally predictable because it always happens. Making the already ridiculous premise of sending troops to the border to confront these people even more asinine.
  7. I would love to see the storyboard filled with great ideas for Shrek sequels made impossible by canon.
  8. While everyone is looking at what this means for Mueller, I wonder if the more specific goal here is to install a sycophant who will take orders. Specifically, what if Trump's strategy is not to worry so much about all his dirty laundry that is about to come out....but to have a DOJ head that will investigate Clinton and other political enemies? Turn this whole this into an even bigger clusterfuck of whataboutism than 2016 was. For all his other flaws we may have begun to take for granted that one line Sessions seemed unwilling to cross was to use his power to go after Trump's enemies. After what happened to Acosta today, I wonder is Trump is really revving up to redefine some boundaries again.
  9. I wonder if they're hoping this causes some kind of organized boycott so they can shutter the press briefings entirely.
  10. Buckle up, now that accountability is out of the way until 2020 Trump is going to act a damn fool. I know I keep saying it, but it's just a damn good thing we won the House.
  11. They'll deserve it when Trump gives them back to Putin at their next meeting.
  12. It's a good thing "for cause" isn't an entirely subjective standard that can mean anything some partisan hack wants it to mean. Edit: Time to dust off those old Trump golf course dues!
