  1. Oh I'm not buying anything too soon, and the game is obviously borked. It doesn't remember graphic settings when I change them, sometimes the DLSS option will disappear completely and be replaced by FSR2, and there are weird stutters.
  2. Yeah those are good deals, but I also have to tell myself that the next time I upgrade I want the latest PCIE, USB, and whatever specs that I can get. On my current build, I bought a cheap bundle of older parts right when PCIE 4.0 had come out, so now I'm stuck with 3.0 speeds that's costing me a little bit of performance as well.
  3. Dang that's cheap, and would also help heat my house through winter
  4. A complete overhaul would be the way to go, but the simplicity of just dropping in an upgrade with doing an entire build is also compelling. I just need that little boost to stay above 60 minimum. A full upgrade would be nasty. Under some scenarios I could double my performance and that is extremely tempting. With a 240 Hz monitor I lower settings for any online multiplayer game, and getting better performance in emulation would be nice too.
  5. There seems to be more silicon lottery jackpot potential with Intel CPUs and fast RAM. Or you can just get a motherboard with just 2 RAM slots I've got a 5900X and 3090. Game definitely needs some patches to smooth out performance and bugs, but right now I'm hovering around that 60 fps mark with any RT turned on with the benchmark telling me I'm only using 75% of my GPU. Turning down the render resolution barely made a difference, as there were still small stutters. With RT off performance was fine and I was getting higher GPU utilization.
  6. Go for it. Is there a special need for 4 sticks of memory? Just buy 2 huge sticks. DDR5, compared to DDR4, has inherently twice the rank per stick which is why both Intel and AMD have to run much lower speeds when 4 slots are populated - albeit Intel is still able to run a bit faster. AMD has also recently been focusing on improving memory performance, and have broken above the 6000 MHz barrier with the latest BIOS. Good chance they'll keep improving. I'd be happy to see the 5800x3D drop to $200. I'm partially CPU limited when playing Forza at 1440p and that's quite annoying.
  7. Got a good chunk through the rankings and it's actually impossible to compare all these games to each other, and I had to delete over half the list.
  8. It's totally fine. Just think of it like having an outlet of your house unplugged. Nothing bad will happen if just left empty.
  9. If you mean to just leave half of the 4+4 unplugged, yes that's fine. Just tuck the +4 away from anything that could potentially touch the pins inside.
  10. I like how simple and quick it is to tune your car and jump into a race. That's all I need. I haven't played a GT game since the PS2 era so I'm not sure what they've changed since then, but Forza scratches the itch. While I enjoyed Horizon, they didn't make it simple to just warp to the events. What I did expect a little more from Motorsport was in the car upgrades. It's exactly the same as Horizon.
  11. You can download and use Windows for free, but after so many days a watermark will appear on your screen until you register with an official license key. The OS is still useable, save for a few features being turned off. OS on the NVME is the way to do it.
  12. Looks good so far. I'm guessing you're going with a white build? White builds look good with RGB. You'll definitely want a fresh OS. Too much potential for Windows to act weird if you upgrade that much hardware.
  13. I mostly agree with that Polygon article, and don't think it's as harsh as it could be. Among the various things that I didn't like about the show and the things I thought were just bad, the biggest driving factor to my disappointment is I never connected with the live action Ashoka and Sabine characters. It's the one thing I never expected to happen, because I choked up in the last season of Clone Wars and Sabine was a great character in Rebels. Seems to me people who are in love with the show are of at least two camps: A) People 30 or under, who grew up with the PT and watched the animated shows on loop; B) Casual consumers who probably loved TRoS. The one thing I thought was pretty great was Baylan, and it took 6 episodes for the show to convince me of that. Looking at the meta story, his goal to break the cycle of endless Jedi/Sith fighting is contrary to Filoni (and Lucas') vision that story elements of Star Wars repeat... like poetry, and the show definitely overused the callbacks and repetition of past storylines.
  14. Her armor did take a few hits. It would be neat if her helmet had constant tracking of enemy firearm directions so she would always be ready to block. Maybe if they set up she was relying on her tech too much, it would have been more impactful when she forced her lightsaber after her helm was knocked off.
  15. The plot logistics just feel like "hey, go with it, don't think about it." It seems strongly implied that Ezra was chilling with the rock people and staying away from Thrawn the entire time - 12 years of hide and seek. And that just feels lame, as you put it. The Mothers were MacGuffins, just there to move the plot along. Morgan too, we don't get any insight into why they are fighting for Dathomir or working under Thrawn. Baylan's arc was the most interesting, but it's literally just the start of it. One of the emotional cores of the story was resolved by a droid. We found out the reason Ashoka stopped training Sabine through Hyuang's dialogue when neither of them were there to hear it. Lame.
  16. They aren't like "Who are these momma's, what do they want, and why are they working for Thrawn?"
  17. I feel so bad for anyone trying to watch this without having watched The Clone Wars. I watched the cartoons (over a decade ago now) and still feel completely baffled and unsatisfied with whatever the hell is going on.
  18. Vague, mixed messaging is the standard for SW. Every other planet looks the same in these D+ shows. There were many sparsely-grassed, low-rolling hills in Mando. I've just had to accept that you really can't analyze the logistics of the show. Filoni, as the sole credited writer, definitely seems to focus on reverence for the past and doing cool stuff, and plays loosely with how he gets there.
  19. These rich dudes have been manipulating us for years. Musk molded his image through media appearances, making cameos in movies, getting name drops in TV shows, news articles and interviews, all in an effort to get us to view him as a real-life Tony Stark. Likewise Trump's PR team revamped his image through The Apprentice, priming half the population to believe he's competent and authoritative. I don't think we had a chance at manipulating these narcissists.
  20. Image quality comparisons to DLSS3 seem like a bigger issue than input lag. Waiting for some comparisons.
  21. Leaked Microsoft Documents Show the Xbox Series S Might Be More Popular Than You Think - IGN WWW.IGN.COM A court document from the big Xbox leak reveals that 75 percent of Xbox Series owners own the cheaper, less powerful Series S console. If Xbox can only compete on sales at a lower cost, the ARM efficiency would make sense as a possible path for them.
  22. Holy cow. Explains why the couple of times I did try XCloud via Game Pass I was thoroughly disappointed. I was also jabbing about how they promised the Xbone would offload computational tasks to the cloud. And it's possible they might actually do "Hybrid Cloud" by offloading AI and have ChatGPT derived NPCs.
